The Stroll - 4 Original Plus 17 Bonus Tracks ORIGINAL RECORDINGS REMASTERED SET

If you are The Diamonds fan, or just lost in the 50's, this is a MUST have album (CD - explanation for the younger set). Produced by the U.K.'s Jasmine Records (records: round flat plastic discs made with grooves to fit a needle pick-up of a phonograph - explanation for the younger set.)and made in the Czech Republic, this two CD set compiles four complete LP's - one each from 1957, 1958, 1959 and 1960, plus 17 bonus tracks. The bonus tracks include cover versions of "Black Denim Trousers And Motorcycle Boots," "Church Bells May Ring" and "She Say (Oom Dooby Doom)" among others.This compilation will surprise some with the depth of the Diamonds musical repertoire and stylings including the LP from 1960 "Songs From The Old West" which may remind you of the singing cowboy westerns back in the day. All the tunes on this section of the second CD make you forget that The Diamonds are noted as Rock and Rollers.On a bad note, the LP included  The Diamonds Meet Pete Rugolo  which on my set is poorly transferred and the vocals are very hard to hear over the orchestrations. That is a shame as this is comprised of mostly Broadway and Hollywood numbers which illustrate the abilities of The Diamonds to cross genres and especially the classical training of lead singer David Somerville. This recording error should push the rating to four stars, but the rest of the set more than makes up for the faux pas.The liner notes are adequate, but could have contained much more about the history of the group. I would have included more connections between the covers and original versions, as many of the songs will be unfamiliar to some people even in the original versions.The Diamonds were a white group which crossed over into the primarily black Rhythm and Blues charts many times. Their music will be enjoyed by anyone, of any culture, who likes good music. This is one CD not to miss.

If you are a Diamond fan, then this collection is for you. The first two albums they are called 'stylists', but as most of us know, most of their songs are covers of other artists, some note for note. I had most of their 45's at one time of which, most of the songs are included here. I heard their 'pop' and C & W albums and they were and still are 'sad' with the album done with Pete Rugolo horrible. My CD player has a delete function on it, so I can just skip over these tracks. There is another CD of the Diamonds called the 'Mercury Years' and it has very few original tracks on it, which is why I bought this one, even though the price was a little too high. I will now give you the High Sign and Stroll away with Words of Love while the Church Bells May Ring, Every Night About This Time. Daddy Cool!! +JMJ+

It only had but 2 or 3 good songs that we liked on this cd.

I did not know the Diamonds sang that many songs. Good album!

This group has everything that makes music listening. Much more pleasant even if they are from the fifty's they are top of the mostest in modern singing. Everyone can enjoy them for sure

ザ　ダイアモンドはリトル　ダアリン以外のこれはという大ヒットないわりにはこのＣＤではジャズボカリストで沢山曲歌っています。そう、イギリスのバチエラーズハーモニー似ている。それほどはヒット曲は無い。あれば、もち星は５つはある筈で少し物足りなかった。

What a Gem Jasmine Records have done to release for the first timeon C.D all of the Fabulous Diamonds records, the quality of all the61 tracks are so good and clear it is a pleasure for hours to listento these gems.Its just like being transported back to when I was 15in 1957.none of you real rock n rollers will be dissapointed to putthese into your collection,I myself bought two copies just to make surethat I will always have them. I hope that you will have the same pleasureas myself to be transported back to the real music of what groups andreal rockers brought us in those wild rocking days.

The Diamonds are really marvelous with their songs some appeal to me and some don't but I have my favorites now and can listen all day to them. Great entertainers with wonderful voices something that should not be missed, Marvelous for to-days music and all ages, Get on with it and try at giving it a go for something different enjoying the era of wonderful music that still lingers on and will for years to come. Soothing to the ear and understandable for all.

Diamonds era il nome di uno dei gruppi doo-wop bianchi più caratteristici degli anni '50: sono quelli che hanno portato al successo una canzone intitolata "Little Darlin'", un brano che trovate SEMPRE in qualsiasi compilation di rock'n'roll anni '50.Qui, finalmente, sono raccolti in CD i primi 4 albums del gruppo, originariamente usciti negli anni '50 e primi '60, più alcuni singoli di difficile reperibilità.Se vi piacciono le armonie vocali di quegli anni, non dovreste farvi sfuggire questo doppio CD.
