Bird-X DG/240 240 V Gard Ultrasonic Deer/Animal Repeller

Have had the deer repeller in action for about 3 weeks. We can monitor the effect it has on intruding deer on our CCTV cameras. And we know it does emit a sharp sound audible to our young granddaughters! The deer have continued to eat windfall fruit, both under the trees and placed as bait. However, the sound may be deterring them from visiting as often. We have it on mains supply, turned on all the time except when we're in the garden ourselves.

I have had this for about 2 months and the batteries last for about 2 weeks with continuous use. So far it is working as expected. The first one I ordered was not operating correctly but the exchange was easy and prompt.

After reading some of the reviews on the Deer Guard I thought that I would try it just to see if it worked. I purchased it in March of 2010. We watched as deer would walk right by it and keep eating, some even lying down very near it! We kept moving it to new places with the same results. We then noticed neighbors walking their dogs past it and it didn't bother the dogs either. Then after about three months, we had several neighbors complain to us about the very loud noise something was making from our property?? Well so much for humans not being able to hear ultrasonic sounds!! Seems that there are some people that are very bothered by the sounds that the deer guard makes. Although the deer are not some of them! So I can say that this product is just a waste of time and money..

Like with all Deer repellent products it's always tough to say if it works 100% of the time. What I can say about Deer Gard Ultrasonic Motion-Activated sensors by Bird-X is that the sensor is very sensitive and strong. This review comes after 1 year of using these to keep deer out of my vineyard (rotating locations twice a season). I would highly recommend buying rechargeable batteries / charger system like EBL universal battery charger and batteries. I never used the included power pack because these were too far from a power source for me. The case is durable but I think the backing ( battery access panel) being a softer rubber / plastic isn't fully waterproof. I found after heavy rains water in my Battery compartment. Also insects and spiders tend to creep inside and make nests near batteries. I have 2 that that have issues after 10 months and 1 that has issues after 1 month. Some issues are no or low chirping sounds ( the sound that keeps the deer away), red light on sensor doesn't light up any longer and 1 stays on constantly killing battery in a day. This product has settings dial to tune to multiple animals and pests, the sound is annoying if you were to use this close to home. I would like if I could install with a solar panel in future. Deterring Deer is not a one product fix all but the need for a combination of products together and changing them up to keep deer guessing. Good luck!

No deer in my yard means it must be working well. I set it up to be on continuously. It is the recommended setting for the power adapter. The adapter has a 30-foot cord (supplying the DC to the unit). I could plug it into the outside AC outlet. I set the unit on the corner of my deck (which was about 20 feet away from the outlet). I am pleased.
