Nerd NEEDS!
These molds are pretty awesome! They create a death star ice cube or other molds like chocolate. I personally am pretty big into the geek world and so these were a must have. For me these were cool enough that I will now be beginning my journey to find a liquor to my liking to accompany these master piece ice balls in a glass. My first attempt will be Johnnie Walker Black. It was a little dusty on the shelf in the store bought it from so thats promising/I used water right out of my faucet and I did not get a clear ice ball like the pictures display. If you want to get it to look like that you will need to use distilled water. I have also found it best when removing the ice from the mold to let the mold sit out for 3 mins or so to allow the mold to warm up and make it easier to remove from the ice ball. Even though mine did not come out clear it was very detailed and I am happy with it! Remember to only fill about 85% or so with water before freezing to allow for expansion. There is also a little notch to help you line up the mold and if not done correctly water will freeze out the side and cause the death star to not be complete.

Perfect for your SW lover!
This does just what it says. It makes a ice sphere that has details of the Death Star (insert Imperial March here). You have to manipulate it a little bit just like you do any ice cube tray or mold. Don’t overfill it or it’s going to leak out of the top. Those that are complaining that the ice is not clear or that the ice melts too fast, please be aware that it’s not the fault of the mold itself ( LOL ) i’m very dedicated. Every few hours I go to the kitchen and pop the frozen death star ice spheres into the ice holder and fill the molds up and start again. I have a lovely little freezer full of ice spheres for guests. You’re all clear kid, lets blow this thing & go home

Tips For Clean, Clear Ice
Some tips for those who haven't gotten a good, clear cube out:* If you really want a crystal clear cube, you're going to HAVE to use distilled water. Even using my Zero water filter, there is cloudiness with tap water.* Make sure the notch is lined up with the top tab or it will leak.* Fill them up all the way and then squeeze out ~1-2 teaspoons. This leaves room for the ice to expand* After filling, let them sit in the refrigerator for a couple of hours. For whatever reason, this makes them easier to separate and lessens cracking.* If they are difficult to get out of the mold, you can run warm water on the bottom for a bit to help them separate.** Bonus tip, try them with different liquids. I use a Sodastream so I have diet coke syrup that I mix with flat water to get a decent grey color and as a bonus, as it melts, it actually puts flavor back into the drink.

they work fine. They also shouldn't be filled up all the ...
First off, they needed to be scrubbed clean with a brush, as they had a white film in them that regular washing didn't remove. However, once clean, they seemed to work okay, with some caveats: They are a little difficult to line up properly so that they don't leak; there's a little bump that you have to line up with an equally-tiny notch, but with some practice, they work fine. They also shouldn't be filled up all the way, or the ice pops them open and leaves huge seam-marks and a bulge where the hole is at the top. Distilled water is recommended (tap water leaves them so white that you can't see the pattern). I'm sure all this would be explained if they had come with instructions! They are also much larger than expected--too big for the Star Trek tumblers we bought from another website, unfortunately, but our kids enjoy them, at least! A cute idea, but one that could be better-executed.

Details vanish in less than a minute
Doesn't seal well, so wet the seals and put it together, then set it in the freezer for a bit before you fill it. Hard to get the cube out of the mold because the rubber is so thick. The details are so fine that within a minute of removal all that you have is a smooth sphere.

Design is difficult to tell for ice ball
It’s easy to use. Easy to fill up. However, it’s a little hard to see the design if it’s an ice ball.

Neat Ice Cubes!
These are neat! They are great for what they are, thy make good ice balls, and the indents are visible if you look close. If you just fill up and throw in the freezer they aren't too visible, the inside gets cloudy and kind of makes it hard to see. If you get really ambitious there are you tube videos to teach you how to freeze them slowly to make them clear.. If you do that they really turn out neat. Boyfriend, and friends all love them!

I love love love love love love these ice molds
I love love love love love love these ice molds!!!! They keep liquor and iced coffee colder longer, and without watering down too much. I use mine DAILY. I love the Death Star shape, they're so fun, even though the outer layer of the ice with the detail melts pretty fast and you can't tell. I'm anxious to try and mold chocolate in them, that would probably work better for the design. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend if you drink from a high ball glass, or if you make iced coffee at home. They're simple to fill and freeze. Sometimes they don't come out of the molds too easily, I just work them out with a butter knife and running it under a little warm water.
