There are great photos throughout the book that shows the joy, fun and memories that Paul Newman, Dr. Pearson and all the souls at the camp created together. Paul Newman fans will be delighted with the rare glimpses into his heart. The authors preserved a treasure and are donating profits to the Hole in the wall gang camp!. The book is inspiring, heartwarming and joyful -and very well written. I highly recommend it!!!

An inspiring read on steroids! This isn’t a one-off tale of a dream all in a lump come true. It’s an ongoing story comprehensively written of legends and heroes small and large, and obstacles and triumphs stemming from famed actor Paul Newman’s desire to give back in a meaningful way. Pearson and Shefsky have combined to relate fascinating details that only living a sustained saga could capture. But the tone is anything but heavy as the wry anecdotes and joyful traditions of a heartwarming initiative unfold and grow. Even Tom Hanks has a cameo in this one! And pictures galore! Loved it. Well worth a spot in anyone’s library.

We still have true heroes in the world. Fabulous true story of vision and determination for a wonderful cause. The narrative is compelling and inspirational. Very enjoyable book.

This is a wonderful, heartwarming book about "The Hole In The Wall Gang Camp" for ill children and the efforts that Paul Newman, Dr. Howard (Doc) Pearson, and others did to make a dream come true. I was a lucky one to review a final draft of the book because my sister is a Co-author. There are beautiful, colorful pictures throughout the entire book. I had chills reading the book because the camp is such a special place for kids who otherwise would not be able to attend a summer camp. It's extremely touching. This is a MUST READ for everyone!!! This book was given to me by a dear friend. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the efforts of Mr. Newman and Doc Pearson in giving children with life-threatening illnesses the opportunity of enjoying the out-of-doors. This book presents the incentives behind the Hole-in-the-Wall camp and the contributions of a variety of people in bringing about the success of the camp. Chapter 8, which describes the illnesses of the children, was clearly written and easy for a non-medical person to understand. The book is an inspiring record of what is possible when true altruism, not ego, leads the way.
