NLT Study Bible

This has to be one of the best study Bible's out there.I bought this one as I love the New Living Translation, I've been using it for some time anyway. However at the time the only other Study Bible I had was the NIV Study Bible which is good, but for one thing. The notes always "tow the line" with evangelical theology, which in most cases I am fine with as I am a charismatic evangelical anyway. However the NIV Study Bible ignores controversy - so of you are looking at passages which suggest you can lose your salvation (as an example) it merely explains them away without doing justice to the opposing point of view. So, I thought it was time to try another Study Bible, and I bought this one.The NLT Study Bible is amazing, it balances historical perspective with practical application. And unlike the NIV Study Bible it does;t shy away from difficult verses. I love how it addresses these and allows you to make up your own mind - the one notable exception is the verses dealing with homosexuality.You'll find maps and diagrams throughout, everything you would expect to find in a Study Bible.The Personal Size is great, easy to carry to Church and Bible Studies. And the BEST thing is that when I compared it to the full size one, it hasn't omitted anything! It's literally just a smaller version of the full size, nothing at all is lost in the downsize - even the page numbers! So I would say get this one, unless you do need larger text for reading.

A nice study bible.The NLT is very pleasant to read. I like the tags on key words and the built in word study. A lot of people would not think of the NLT has a study bible but more of a general reading bible but I like the accessibility and think it would be particularly useful to new Christians or those coming to the bible for the first time. The NLT is one of the top selling translations and I can see why. Excellent version.

This is a Bible that is of tremendous benefit to anyone who wishes to have a deeper insight into the background to the Bible events, along with having access to an excellent Concordance. A further great benefit are the explanations / comments given on a very wide range of Bible teaching; these are given, not to give a personal view of the Bible passage being reviewed, but to ensure that the total emphasis is on the whole of the Scripture passage concerned, in the light of the very latest biblical scholarship from renowned contributors.I find it to be a truly incredible publication, and would strongly recommend it to anyone who wishes to make the teaching of the Bible an integral part of their life, and a desire to have a closer walk with the actual author of the Scriptures, God's Holy Spirit Himself.

I've mostly preferred the NIV in the past but when I started to use the NLT 1-year bible for this year's studies I found I really loved this version. I decided to get a large Bible in the NLT (the small one is hard for me to read now I'm ** years old) but as I already have the NIV Life Application Bible but do not have any specific Study Bible I thought this was probably right for me. I'm delighted with it - I keep finding my attention drawn away from the text to the notes and then to my PC screen which is no bad thing - it makes me concentrate harder and I now know how to find more information when needed. I give it full marks.

The study bible arrived quickly and in good condition. A very helpful study bible.The footnotes are useful. They clarify the text without teological bias. There are useful blocks of additinal information on characters and themes.Also lengthy chapter introductions. I use it along side the application study bible . The N LT translation is my favourite. No slang but understandable to the modern reader. Although not a large print version it is a good size print .Even the footnotes are clear.The print is dark which helps clarity.Pages thin but good idea to put index tabs in to look up references fast.Find them helpful to turn pages using your thumb. Lovely reddish brown shiny cover. If you re dithering go buy it,,

This is good, very good.Not including colour like the ESV but it avoids a party line and doesn't continually tell me what to believe on each sunbject (like many study bibles). The Greek and hebrew word index is excellent. the notes succinct and cross references 'on the button'.I'm more of a fan of the notes than the translation but I still view this as the best reference bible 'out there' at the moment. It to my mind beats the ESV and is much more accesible than the NIV study bible but with the still high quality of the writing and scholarship.Anyone, old hack or eager student would benefit from this.

The Bible arrived this morning so it is too early to comment on the NLT version itself. I'm looking forward to it being a very readable modern version of the Bible to read alongside other more literal word for word translations.I did however want to comment on the quality, which is superb. It is beautifully leather bound with gilt edged pages. The paper quality is pretty good by Bible standards and considering that there are nearly 2500 pages. The font size looks just right with the biblical text in two columns being larger than the three column commentary.All in all this item represents brilliant value for money and has easily surpassed my expectations.

This has proved to be all I hoped it would be. I need to extend my knowledge of the Bible and this alongside our weekly Bible Study Class will be the very best way (it was recommended to me). I already have compact NIV and NLT Bibles but NLT is such a joy to read. It's much easier to understand and I find I just want to keep picking it up, can't get enough of "the Word" sometimes. The "red text" where Jesus speaks is quite special too. I would recommend it to anybody and just say don't delay when you can be enjoying your faith so much more with this. God Bless.
