Purple Rice Water Velvet Skin Gel Cream

I've been using this gel/cream for years. I often get compliments about how smooth and/or good my skin looks. This is the only skincare cream that I have used on a regular that does not break my skin out. I've tried many others. I wear this day and night. Sometimes I pair it with organic aloe vera. This works for my skin. I have combination/sensitive skin. I really like it.

Applied lotion and found it to have the worst smell. This product should not be allowed to be sold. If you can get over the horrible smell you will find it does not moisturize your face either.

So I was very hesitant on buying this, because of all the reviews saying that it smelled weird. Also I been buying skin care on Amazon and when I get it it doesn’t have a seal. So I return it. But this one had a seal so I’ll be keeping it. I’ll update as I use it

Purchased it despite other’s reviews complaining about the smell. They were right. It smells like a $1 box of crayons. Cheap and waxy. It leaves a waxy feeling on your face. I tried mixing in a scented face oil to disguise the smell but the waxy smell prevailed. I only use it at night so I don’t have to smell it all day. Not a Thatcha dupe in my opinion.

This is my all-time favorite night cream! I put it on before bed and like a typical night cream, makes your skin feel sticky and takes a while to absorb but in the morning my skin is soft and moisturized! I have dry skin and keratosis pilaris, so any extra moisture I can get, the better! I also love how this is not tested on animals and doesn’t contain a bunch of harsh chemicals that I can’t pronounce.

Edit: after a few months if using, I realized this was actually reacting with another of my skincare products and thats why it was stinging. You get used to the odd smell, but it really does remind me of playdough. Still recommend and will continue to use.Kind of has this weird playdough smell with a plastic overtone. Very strange. It also stings if put directly on my skin, so I use it on top of a few moisturizers for barrier and then put one over top to mask the smell. It's fine once you get used to it. Not at all a dupe for any purple rice products, though. Still, my skin likes it once I found the best way to use it. The salicylic acid keeps my skin nice and clear.

Not sure what it is about this scent but if you can find it freshly manufactured it’s heavenly. If not. It smells absolutely rancid. Wouldn’t recommend despite the amazing price.
