All I really wanted was a compilation that contained both 'A-Tisket A-Tasket and 'Paper Moon', which resulted in me stumbling upon this budget triple album. But what an absolute gem. Whilst it is still missing essential tracks ('Vote for Mr Rhythm', 'Mack the Knife'), what makes this a worthy purchase is its cohesiveness... The tracks are mostly chronological and they flow together very nicely (some compilations twist her back catalogue into a nauseating mess). I'm not even sure it's possible to get all the Ella you need into just three discs, but this collection captures all her joy, her wonderful collaborations, her peerless scat vocals, and a voice that competes with Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday and no one else. Disc One is a perfect introduction for the uninitiated; for those who love her already the whole collection may well become the definitive Ella in your collection. For £5.30 (!?) you've got nothing to lose.

Il est regrettable que chaque Cde "CD" provenant du Royaume -Uni présente systématiquement la détérioration du boitier concerné. Enveloppe "bulle" trop fragile pour les manipulations multiples des services postaux si précautionneux soient-ils. A signaler au mieux. Merci à vs.
