My pregancy bible!!!!
My friend gave me a copy of this book in my last pregnancy. At first I felt a bit daunted by it because it looked rather huge, but then when I looked through it properly, I realised, it was all in sections and it was a question and answer format which was so easy to read. It really was truly helpful. I was gutted (when pregnant again) that I couldnt find my book, but I was able to purchase it on here (used). The only bad thing I'll say is that this particular copy wasnt in very good condition as advertised but this is clearly nothing against the content of the book. I love it!!!! The best pregnancy book I have come across :)

Great for First Time Moms!
I just gave birth to my first baby on May 27. I read a few pregnancy books, and this one was BY FAR the most helpful and thorough book out there. It's got the answer to every single question I could have asked myself. The morning I went in to labor, I grabbed the book and started reading about false labor and contractions to see if I was really in labor or not.The book is broken down in to sections by each month of pregnancy. The author describes what is going on with the baby during each month, what kind of symptoms you may/may not be having, and gives a list of what to expect at your doctor's appointment that month. Everything was pretty accurate and helped me to understand what changes my body was going through. It was also neat to read about what my baby looked like and how she was developing as each month passed. Also in each section is a "frequently asked questions" type of format that had every single question and answer I could possibly think of - and tons I would never have thought of. Any time I had a question, I broke out this book and was able to find the answer. And every time I asked my doctor a question, he gave me an answer almost exactly the same as the book.I highly recommend this book to any pregnant woman, especially first-timers like myself This book helped me through a lot of anxiety and worry about my baby. Now I've moved on to "What to Expect the First Year" and it is just as wonderful. Definitely worth all five of the stars I'm giving it!

It's the best pregnancy book I've read!
I don't see why so many people have a problem with this book. Yes, it talks about "worst case scenarios" and many things that may scare you, but that's such a small part it. And I would much rather be prepared for these things that caught off guard. It's a great month-by-month guide on what to expect when pregnant. It shows you how the baby is developing, lists possible symptoms and other changes in the woman's body, and discusses in depth the many questions we have about illness, caffeine, smoking, dying your hair and whatever else. It's fantastic! I read a little almost every day, and many parts over and over. I love knowing what to expect at each stage of my pregnancy...especially this being our first. A warning for men: this book is written for women! It has many concerns that you may not be so worried about, but we are! My husband loves this book, but it even annoys him at times. I suggest "The Expectant Father: Facts, Tips and Advice for Dads-to-Be," by Armin A. Brott for the daddies. My husband loves it. I bought "What to Expect When You're Expecting" as suggested by a friend, and I would highly recommend it for any woman. I bought many pregnancy books, and this is pretty much the only one I still read. Keep in mind it's a GUIDE, not a definitive Bible for pregnancy. Every woman's pregnancy is different. But if you want all the possibilities in pregnancy, one month at a time, then this is your book.
