Has sustained my interest more than any of the past 10 books I’ve bought!
These contributions have focused my attention and myself to what is most important that both the patient and myself are bringing into the therapeutic relationship that addresses essential change that really matters.

A Compelling Collection of Papers
This book is a beautiful encapsulation of the challenges and pathways to finding aliveness in the midst of therapeutic deadness. Full of searing clinical vignettes and cogent theoretical perspectives, Sopher, Schwartz Cooney and others invite the reader to think beyond traditional approaches of psychoanalytic intervention. In this book, repetitive and stuck treatments are seen as opportunities to discover and inject vitality into frozen and underdeveloped parts of our patients. A wonderful and compelling collection of papers that bring us into both the heart and mystery of the analytic process. I highly recommend for clinicians across all experience levels, as well as those curious about what truly happens in the consulting room.
