MUST READ for every parent and future parents.
He is the J Krishnamurti to education. One of the most important books of my life specially to raise myself and my children. Every school should make their teachers and parents a must read.

Most important book for all parent and school teachers
I wish we have more schools like this. This book has some great ideas on how we should treat our child and help them grow with freedom.

A definite must read!!
This is a must read for every person, young or old. Very important for every parent for it enlightens towards right upbringing of children. Extremely important for non parents too to understand their own upbringing and the consequences caused due to it and thus rectifiying it from its root.

SUMMERHILL - A book for our times
Firstly, the book is fine, in good condition and arrived in good time. thanks for that. Primarily though this is a book that absolutely everyone with children, or caring for children, teachers, educators, Psychologists, Grandparents etc, etc MUST READ. Yes it is dated but fundamentally the wisdom and genius of A.S. Neill will influence and change lives forever. If only there were more places where the principles outlined in this book were practiced the world would most definitely be a better place. I thoroughly recommend this book and others written by Alexander Sutherland Neill. . 5 stars for the book - 100 stars for the content.

So interesting
I love this book. Its written a long time ago and yet its very modern to its approach to children mental health. It questions believes that pressure in children's education is a good thing. It gives food for thought.

All parents should read this.
I first read this more than 30 years ago when I was bringing up my two small children. It made a big impression on me. A.S. Neill advocates bringing up children with respect, love and freedom. His school, which still exists today after his death and is run by his daughter, is run according to his principles of equality between pupils and staff, and gives pupils autonomy over their own lives. All rules are made democratically, with pupils and staff having equal votes. Now that my daughter has children of her own I have bought a copy for her to read. This book is truly essential reading for parents or anyone involved with children. The school's website makes interesting reading too.

Great book, pity about the secondhand condition
The book is great...the reason I gave it four stars and not five is only because of the quality of the second hand state of the book...it stunk!!! It smelt of mould and damp that I couldn't read it for the first week, I had to actually buy a fragranced sachet and placed it inside the book for a week before I could stand the smells enough to be able to read it, so I was extremely disappointed in the seller as it was listed as acceptable condition and it really wasn't acceptable at all

Inspiring
an inspiring read that comes at education from the children's view. Fascinating because it written by someone who has known 1st and 2nd World Wars but nothing of the 60s (because it wasn't written then). It has reminded me of what sort of teacher I would like to be.
