Excellent review of strategies and approaches; this will improve your game enormously.
I have the full set of all five Learn to Play Go books, and, keeping in mind that I started as a complete novice with no idea how to play the game, I believe this set of books is the reason I've progressed quickly. There's no substitute for actual games and experience, of course, but knowing the theory and practice behind some strategies cuts the learning process down considerably. The first three books got me playing, and interested in learning more, while this one dives into the meat of strategic gaming. It's a thicker book than the first three, for good reason, and has lots of illustrations to explain what Kim is talking about, all of which helps. The approach is solid, in my mind: explain the basic strategic options, then look at various approaches to each. This is quite similar to chess, where learning all the openings is a time-consuming process requiring lots of practice, although I find the learning curve for Go is shorter than the one I went through decades ago when learning chess. Memorizing all the options presented here isn't really an option, but it does help you play a few games with each approach and see which you like and don't like, filing the approaches in your memory for future use.If you're a passable Go player, this book will take you to several levels higher; if you're still learning, it will help guide your learning process. More than any other Go book I own, this one got me into the meat of the game, presenting options to tackle my opponent aggressively. A great way to improve your game!

A lot of fun.
They have several series' available but this is one of the best. Illustrated, easily builds on one book from the next. I'm not familiar with anyone else at this point, I'm happy with this whole series of books, but it might help that the author is an American/English speaker first who then learned to play. It's a great game/hobby. There's a lot to it and manuals like this really do help

nice series
I purchased all 5 volumes in the series. They are imaginative, well written, artful diagrams; large print for easy reading; concepts are organized into small segments which helps avoid information overload; concepts are repeated which helps my learning; good quality paper and binding; photos of important players are of lesser quality, and I think the books would be better without the photos, except for the photos of the authors themselves.
