Live Long and Prosper or at least go Boldly Play with this fun articulated Mr. Spock
I have been a Star Trek fan since I was a little girl and watched the program on reruns. Mr. Spock was my favorite character then and remains so today. There is just something so appealing about watching him fight his (half) human nature and try to beat it into submission only to have it rise up again in the next episode.I have had a number of Star Trek action figures (not dolls, right?) over the years. Up until now, one of my favorites was an articulated nine inch version from the 1990's. Now, the Mattel Barbie 50th Anniversary figure has become my go-to set. That isn't to say there aren't some issues (especially with less than stellar articulated hips and the fact that the pants are tight have have no stretch to them.) At the retail release rate, these dolls are an excellent value. The face mold is excellent. The look on the face is exactly what I want in Mr. Spock. He has molded on blackish brown hair. His right hand is held traditional Vulcan salute in the Live Long and Prosper split finger position. The figure is fairly well articulated with points at the neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hips, knees, and ankles. This could have been improved with bicep and waist movement but for the most part it functions well. Until you try to position the figure into a sitting pose. The pants are simply too tight and don't stretch. I removed them to see if the body would sit otherwise, I discovered that, on my figure at least, the hips popped completely out of the joint when I put it into a sitting position. While I would have loved to have been able to play with Mr. Spock and pose him at will, I don't mind too much about the hip issue. His arms can be held close to the body in the down position; however, the higher you place the arms, the further they stay from the body.Mr. Spock is wearing a stretch blue shirt with gold and black accents. The pants are black and a woven non-stretchable fabric that ends mid-calf. He wears black boots that have a split in the back which allows you to position the feet. A communicator is held (via clear elastic band) in his left hand. It comes with a stand to hold the doll (oops, figure) up but I found that I can stand the doll on its own two feet as well. The three figures from the 50th anniversary release from Barbie/Mattel will have a semi-permanent home in my husband's home office. Semi-permanent because they will have to come out to play with my other dolls as well. Turns out that my husband and I (being of a somewhat similar age) are both big fans and I am being nice and letting him think these “action figures” are for him.

A good looking Spock doll
I bought this Mr. Spock to take with me on various trips for fun. He's very cooperative with posing and doesn't take up much room when he needs to be packed away.My only complaint is that he does not come with a tri-corder, so I had to also order Uhura to get that. I ordered them both when they were only selling for $35-$40 each. Unfortunately, the strap for the tri-corder isn't very durable so it broke on our first trip since it's just stretchy plastic. And now that I've gone back to see the prices for both have skyrocketed (Uhura is over $200 now!) I'm sort of annoyed I didn't realize they would become much more valuable within a year of being ordered, or I would've ordered 2 of each (one to leave untouched and one to take out of its package).Oh well.

a must-have!
For the Star Treck fans a great Mr. Spock. The original carton container has some minor old scratch, possibly due to storage; Mr. Spock himself is perfect, included his suit and communicator kept in his hand by a transparent tiny rubber band, therefore detachable; both arms can bend and the other hand is in the *live long and prosper" sign; there is also an elegant black stand to allow safe and stable display. The face is a perfect beautiful Leonard Nimoy.

Barbie Star Trek 50th Anniversary Mr. Spock a pleasant surprise!
This figure would be easy to dismiss considering the first word in the description is "Barbie," but in-hand the likeness to actor Leonard Nimoy is surprisingly great. This is especially true when you factor in the price (at the time of this review around $30). The body is limited in posing options but the outfit is very well designed and executed. Again, this is not anywhere near the higher end 1/6 scale figures but at 15% of the cost of those other figures it makes a fine addition to any Star Trek collection, just remove it from the box (which is NOT collector friendly) and display it LLAP sign flying. The left hand has a communicator tied to it with clear bands because the hands are not sculpted to hand anything. There are no other accessories. A tricorder or phaser would have been appropriate, but there is that lower price, so I won't complain. If you can grab this for under $50, I'd jump at it.

Original box damaged, packaging not good
I do love the doll a lot and if you don't want to keep the original box it's ok. However, the original box I received was damaged. For this price I do expect a more protective package than plastic bag and bubble wrap... really disappointed

Amazing job from Mattel
Firstly, I am a Star Trek fan, along with the rest of my family. I was very surprised to see Mattel had a Barbie Mr. Spock. Personally, a Barbie is usually something my grandchildren would play with, so it was with a bit of hesitancy that I actually bought this for my adult daughter for Christmas. (If I can remember where I put it when the time comes.) I opened the box when it arrived and I have to say Mattel did a fantastic job. Spock looks amazing. Of course, I did not remove it from its home, but the uniform looks great and I was glad to see it was Spock in his prime. He looks perfect. I love it and I am absolutely certain my daughter will, too. Thanks Mattel. Now how about making some clothes for curvy Barbie?

Mr. Spock Forever!
As a fan of all things Star Trek, I just had to order this Mr. Spock 12" "Barbie" the moment I spotted it! I am a bit surprised at how nice this is - it's a really good likeness, I love the tiny communicator held in the figure's left hand and the vulcan salute on the right hand. The uniform - the classic science blue tunic and black pants - is well done as well. The doll is poseable so I can place Spock in various stations aboard my mini-bridge mock-up. I'm really pleased with this figure! For those wondering, the figure was made in Indonesia. It comes with the uniform, communicator, the stand, and a certificate of authenticity. It's a must for the serious Star Trek collector, and would make an excellent gift that any Trek fan would appreciate.

Fully jointed!
The doll is very nice and all jointed so can be moved and played with. Got a very damaged box, so another collector might not have been happy about that. With stand.
