The Prince and Me (Full Screen Edition) by Julia Stiles

Surprisingly good: Works to make a great film
This takes itself seriously and works alot better than the sequels. It is very much a hallmark type plot but done alot better. Disgraced Prince ingognito at far away University meets down to earth sensible farm girl, gets a wake up call in life, unlikely love blossoms, challenges then arise. The bare bones sounds cheesy but the strong script gives a good cast what they need to make it credible and work well. Despite the inevitable weak-stereotypes, there is enough heavy and intelligent writing and intersting plot development to make the narrative really engage well.Julia Styles dominates what is quite a challenging role. Martha Coolidge directs well, though is clearly playing with a small budget and limited cast (the same extras pop up prominently in too many inappropriate scenes). Some other class actors are in the mix though (James Fox, Miranda Richardson, Ben Miller).I was pleasantly surprised and got this DVD for the collection. You do NOT need the sequels (which loose Julia Styles and Martha Coolidge). The sequels descend into cheap farce and quickly lost my interest with clumsy script, obvious villains and predictable plot. This is of a higher order of quality altogether, nearly a classic, and for my money better than Princess Diaries.RECOMMENDED

A story of how love can get you when least expect it
I have really enjoyed this film as it takes you through all the honest emotions of love. The leading lady of this film is Paige (Julia Stiles), who plays a University student who is focused on achieving the grades she requires to go forward to become a Doctor. All is going to plan, when in walks (Eddie) Luke Mably as the Crown Prince of Denmark. The Prince enters the University not wishing to announce he is a Prince and more interested in the Student lifestyle after classes. The story brings the two together, as they realise that they each know the subject in which the other is failing, this is the when love blooms. The love crashes when Edvard the Crown Prince has to return to Denmark to takeover the crown from his ailing Father the King. Both actors deserve credit for their performance as they take you through times of comedy and deep emotions of love. The question remains, Can love win through?
