NEVERMOOR: THE TRIALS OF MORRIGAN CROW BOOK 1 Paperback – 8 February 2018

This book is often compared to Harry Potter, but I and my kids found it better than Harry Potter. The plot is better, the mystery and the reveals are better, the characters are extraordinary and the book is just very well written. What's not to love about this book.The audiobook (Gemma Whelan as the reader is an absolute delight) plays during every road-trip we take and we've gifted a copy to every teenager in the family.

‘We’ve got great architecture,’ he continued. ‘Lovely restaurants. Reasonably reliable public transport. The climate’s great – cold in winter, not-cold in not-winter. Much as you’d expect. Oh, and the beaches! The beaches.’ He looked thoughtful. ‘The beaches are rubbish, actually, but you can’t have everything.’If you are looking for a fun, light yet engrossing read, go for this one. The imagination in the book is fascinating. There is humour in the writing style. The attention to detail in the world building is impeccable.So glad I picked this book. I enjoyed my time reading it.

Morrigan Crow is cursed. Her particular curse deals with getting blamed for any mishappening that occurs in her town, from the batch of food getting spoiled to death of people and animals. You name it and it's because of "that cursed child". In addition, her family treats her quite terribly due to the amount of money they have to pay because of Morrigan Crow’s wrongs and the additional shame and embarrassment she brings to them.The thing with cursed children is that they die on their 11th birthday and when it's her turn, she is whisked away by someone to fight for a prestigious position in The Wunderous Society. And so the story goes....This book is whimsical and a treat for those who enjoy Harry Potter and/or Percy Jackson series. It can be read and enjoyed by kids and adults alike.The story has certain elements of Harry Potter meets Alice in Wonderland but Townsend manages to give her own twist to it, hence the lack of originality isn’t an issue as there is plenty.This is a solid first book in a series and I can't wait for the second part.

This book is the best! It is Harry Potter minus the offensive stuff and swear words that are not suitable for small kids. It's a must read book for all ages

Takes you back to your childhood reminiscent of the harry potterish adventures. Instantly engrossing.... Has great potential.waiting for part 2

While the world isn’t as developed as Harry Potter.. and the stakes not quite as high, it’s definitely in a similar vein, and I enjoyed it a lot. Would recommend.

O livro é muito bom e faz lembrar um pouco de quando li Harry Potter pela magia e a naturalidade com que ela é tratada. Eu não dava nada para o livro e gostei muito dele e mal posso esperar para continuar lendo os outros.
