If this is heard only when set to PHONO, you could be experiencing static discharge (especially in very dry winter weather or if you routinely leave a record on the platter). Google "records static electricity" for more and suggested fixes.

I believe the previous response answers your question. Since the TCC TC-754 AUX inputs do not pass the signal through the RIAA equalization circuit, you need a separate phono preamp like the TC-750. I use a TC-780LC stereo line level booster in series between my B&O turntable and the TCC TC-754 phono preamp. B&O cartridges have very low output and require more amplification than provided by the TCC TC-754 phono preamp.

Don't know, but it is probably the standard magnet cartridge input impedance/capacitance. I have had this unit for about 2yrs and love it! the best thing about it is ZERO hum. Sounds and works great.
