Excellent for beginners!
Definitely a 'beginner's' book, which fits me, I highly recommend it. The author does an excellent job of explaining clearly strategy and tactics of the game. I especially enjoyed the 'walk through', move by move, example he provides.

This is a great book for a beginner to read
This is a great book for a beginner to read. Illustrates fundamental chess principles through one example game where virtually every possible move, and issue relating to proper play, is discussed. The example game used is the Scotch Game. Lots of chess instruction, targeted to the chess novice, in this book.
