Q: Does this cover #2 pencils...the kinds with erasers, & slight polygon shape rather than totally round?

Yes it works fine for that! I use mine for #2 Palomino Blackwings. It will not fit over their weird flat erasers but will fit fine over an eraser on a normal #2 pencil. I use them to protect their sharpened points in my backpack.

Q: Will these fit on 5mm pastel pencils (1" circumference)?

I use these on standard pencils that measure approx 3/4 of an inch in circumference and these are fairly snug. There is a slit that will allow it to stretch a bit.......so, I think they would stretch to the 1 inch you need ( otherwise use them on your standard art pencils or writing pencils).

Q: Will these work on slightly larger charcoal pencils?

Yes - they are quite flexible. I bent it out at the little cut and worked the larger pencil in so that it bent the sides out. I got one on a Conté pastel pencil. Conversely, for smaller barrel pencils you can bend it in so it overlaps a bit at the cut and work the pencil in in the same way, so it maintains pressure on the barrel and stays on.

Q: Will they fit straedtler pencils

I don’t know if they’d fit that brand in particular, but in my experience, the will expand or contract to fit anything close to a standard pencil barrel size. The narrow openings on each side of the caps give them this little bit of flexibility.
