Ideal travel shoe!
Review update: Just a quick update to my previous review as many people have found it helpful. I usually wear my Keen Astoria West shoes when traveling a few times a year so they are still going strong. In April 2024, I put them to the test once again! I hiked up a gravel path to a volcano in the Mediterranean. The path was fairly steep. The Keens were great! Had to empty my shoes a couple of times as dust and grit got in (inevitably - there are holes in the sides of the shoes), but this only took a few seconds as the shoes slip on/off so quickly. I also jumped off a boat into the very cold Aegean sea, wearing these shoes. I tightened them up, as when cold, hands and feet shrink a little. I was swimming in the ocean about 10 metres in depths towards the shore - the shoes stayed on my feet and protected me from rocks as I neared the beach. I was then swimming into thermal volcanic waters, with high sulphur content which turns the water brown along with any white fabrics, I'm happy to report the Keens were not impacted by this - they stayed their original colour. After getting out of the sea I walked around a port (which was flat concrete) and my shoes dried out nicely and maintained their grip. I certainly put these shoes through a bunch of challenges, and I'm delighted to see how well the Keens handled it! Two years later, I still highly recommend.2022 review:I purchased these shoes for a trip to Asia where I would be doing lots of walking and and ideally needed something more substantial, supportive and 'trainer-like' than my hiking sandals. I also needed something that would also be very breathable in a hot and humid climate. These Keen Astoria West shoes, with their opened sided design, were perfect!Having researched the brand, I found out Keen has a good reputation for adventure shoes, sandals, hiking boots. I choose the Astorias as they are lightweight, and have a nice feminine design with a slight heel elevation, and are waterproof. Also they come in a great range of colours and look pretty stylish for this type of shoe. After my trip, I can confirm these Astorias are great! I wore them all day on flat and hilly gravel trails, through forests and on the beach. The hybrid design is like hiking sandals and trainers had a baby! The moment I put them on they were comfortable. The stretchy and soft scuba-like fabric on the inside of the shoe ensures there is nothing to rub. I saw another reviewer said they kind of feel like wearing a combination of a shoe and sock - which I'd say is a good, accurate description! The fit is easily adjustable with the innovative elastic lacing structure - which makes them super fast to slip on and off. This is also great if your feet tend to swell up or shrink down in changing temperatures as you can quickly adjust fit on the move. The overall fit is true to size, however if you are between sizes or not sure, I'd say go up half a size to be safe. The shoes are very lightweight, reducing aching legs and ensuring they don't add to much to luggage weight limits when flying. I confirm they are waterproof having worn them in the sea and through streams. They dried well and I also understand they can go in the washing machine (haven't tried this yet, but I'm confident they will be fine). Finally, the rubber sole and toe cap is great for grip and protecting the toes - which is so needed on rugged trails! However, one point I should add is that if you are looking to do some proper, steep, technical hiking you will still need to invest in some proper hiking boots with ankle support - these Astorias are not a substitute for that (however they will make a useful edition to your adventure shoe collection)! I'd say they are great for long days on your feet, walking in the summer or in hot climates on moderate terrain.I hope you find this review helpful, I certainly love these shoes and will be looking to purchase more Keen footwear in the future.

Keen needs to get its sizing right
I ordered a pair of these several years ago and they were too small. I gave them away. Fast forward, to now, and I decided to try again, using Keen’s guide, based in the British sizes. They are now too big. It’s a pity because they seem well made and would probably be really comfortable if I wasn’t slipping around in them. I use them in the beach and paddle in them, and afterwards they dry and come back well. They look good but I am really frustrated about the sizing.

Impressed
I ordered these for an upcoming trip to SE Asia where I will be doing some sightseeing, snorkeling and trekking. I wanted something practical that could also be worn in the water to minimise the shoes I was packing. I chose these as I suffer from sore feet and legs through various medical ailments, and appreciate some arch support in my shoes. I didn't have high expectations for closed toe sandals to look great, however, I was delighted when these arrived looking similar to some of my athletic trainers, and feeling just as comfortable. The bungee straps are fully adjustable for wider feet like mine, and the fit is true to the size chart. I normally wear a 3-4UK depending on the brand and ordered a 3.5UK as the chart matched my measurements. My feet fill the entire footbed with approx 1/4 of an inch space in the toe box - perfect fit! I have been watching various keen sandals for price changes and managed to snap these up for £33 - an absolute bargain. I'll also be able to wear them for work on our very limited Scottish hot summer days where I require a closed toe shoe for safety reasons, and for gentle hill walks. I'll be keeping an eye out for more bargains from this brand. I can't comment on the durability but Keen are a well respected brand so I expect they will last. I will definitely be buying more.

Keen Sandal
Good shoe being keen, but I have a wide foot so therefore it was too narrow & tight,if the shoe had been wider without doubt would of kept it.Good communication with the seller Legend Footwear

Nice and bright but sadly too small.I’m size 6 and would need a 7 so my toes don’t touch the end

Soooo comfortable!
Similar to the Clearwater CNX but with thicker soles and a slight heel. They are softer and spongier than the CNX due to the much thicker sole, but just as comfortable. The heel strap didn't feel very stable though and I wouldn't go climbing in these as I do with my CNX for fear of them slipping off at the back but they are great for day to day wear and light terrain walking.
