This is the engineering dynamics book you need to buy
This by far my favourite book on the topic of dynamics, the explanations are clear and the author went to great length to facilitate the acquisition of concepts. This book will satisfy demanding students and their first two years beyond this point it will become a quick reference as more advanced book will be more appropriate. A decent addition is Matlab workbook it is fine to learn the both of them at the same Solving Dynamics Problems in Matlab to Accompany Engineering Mechanics Dynamics: WITH Engineering Mechanics Dynamics, 6r.e.

Not bad but expensive in latest edition, buy this old version of a classic text.
A classic of its kind and one of the famous works in the subject. I note this prodigious author is still producing upgraded editions after his death which is a level of dedication normally reserved for popular musicians. The book itself is a mildly upgraded one of my personal copy [ Meriam Dynamics SI] of 30 years ago, many of the equations have the same numbering for example, so there would seem no necessity to pay the outrageous UK retail price being asked for the latest 2013 edition, of approx £169. Since the last major upgrade in dynamics was in 1905 save yourself a fortune and buy an old copy of his book eg this one (2003) at £5 or so. My old red back was £6.95 in 1980 - new and it was pricey then too. Some of the theory is a bit sparse but generally not bad as long as its augmented with course notes, if you can do all the examples or many of them consider yourself very competent, and probably an instructor. Good for dishing out homework questions and prettily illustrated - the main difference from my old redback from 1980 but can be a bit "heavy" for the novice. Not a "teach yourself" book in my view.Dr Colin Harrison, Senor Lecturer, Glasgow UK

Very good!
I like the explanations and the number of exercises with lots of pictures. Also, it is very useful for the worked out examples.

From an Old Head.
I only got this book to complete my collection of books related to my mechanical engineering degree. As a text book, it is easy to understand, concise and informative. The problems in the book are manny and various, which will be good for new students of dynamics. In my eye, this book makes a great combination with E. J. Hearne's two volumes on the analisys of solids, for a degree in either mechanical or systems engineering.
