They tricked my hens!!
I bought these just to see if I could trick my chickens into using some of the other nesting boxes. They look just like the eggs my hens lay. I have 8 hens and 6 nursing boxes, but they always use the same box. I put one fake egg in each box and immediately they started using other boxes. It was never a problem, I was really just curious and wanted to give it a try.

Works great!
I am new to chickens and had mine for 3 weeks with only one egg.I guess they took time to get adjusted and whatnot. Either way, on week 2 with no eggs, I ordered these and surprise surprise - I put them in the coop (all 6 because I read somewhere that chikens can count to 6) and the next day, I had 8 eggs (6 fake, 2 real).I have had the fake ones in there for almost a month now (and take the real ones out every day) and have had no issues. The chickens move them around and seem to think they are real eggs. It is awesome! You can tell the difference between the real eggs and the fake eggs (if you're human). But the differences are very slight. For ex. my real eggs are slightly less brown, and weigh just a tiny bit less it seems. If your chickens are laying the same color brown, then maybe you could mark it with a sharpie before putting them in.Overall - very pleased.

Surprisingly Realistic - Got Our Chickens Laying Where They Should
We've had a few chickens in our backyard coop for about 5 years now. For the majority of that time they've been laying their eggs in different locations within the coop that changes on roughly a weekly basis. That wouldn't be an issue except sometimes the location they pick is right under where they like to roost and poop. As you can imagine, this has led to some really disgusting egg discoveries on occasion. I'm mad we waited this long to get fake eggs because it immediately solved the problem just by putting one in the nest box they should use.I have found that I have to only put one fake egg in the coop at a time though, every time I put two in there they kicked one of them completely out of the coop and into the run. Apparently they can tell one's an imposter when there's two together but are completely oblivious to the fake when there's only one of them. Go figure.Anyway, these are highly recommended to anyone trying to train their chickens to lay in a specific spot. It works amazingly well and the eggs themselves are pretty convincing even to a human. They're a little lighter weight than a real egg and the paint is a bit shinier than a shell but otherwise it's pretty much spot on and more than enough to fool a chicken.

Love these Wooden Eggs
We started to raise our own chickens and it was getting close to their first laying...I read the other reviews on this product and bought them. They worked perfectly! The hens saw the wooden eggs in their nesting boxes and jump right on top of them and roosted until they laid their eggs. We put one of these wooden eggs into each nesting box. They look so real, we were afraid that we would be able to tell the difference!
