SPIED: Can YOU Crack the Code as a Secret Agent? (Click Your Poison)

You feel like 007
Hey listen... I just saw this had been released and snagged the Kindle version... OH MAN this is good writing... I could hear the OO7 Theme kick in just about the time the agent nabbed a snowmobile... great pacing, great description, and very satisfying length of passages. I haven’t gotten very far but whoa... this is an outstanding title and I highly recommend it, and I *teach* writing and filmmaking. Bravo!UPDATE:I just finished a long and satisfying story arc, one of three major paths, and the book has about 50 endings but there are lots of clues as to which options are better if you pay attention. This really is an outstanding title and I look forward to exploring different paths next time. I was delighted to discover there are already several other books in the series; I’m interested in the superhero, murder mystery and pandemic books and may try the zombie book. This is the new CYOA for grownups!

Intense with suspense. Click Your Poison Books never disappoint!
Enthralling environment and setting to begin your adventure as a secret agent (no spoilers! haha, you have to live it yourself. Good luck!).You feel like your there, so many crucial decisions.Hilarious quite often, as James Schannep is one of the best authors to incorporate action with comedy sprinkled in right on cue.Prepare to grit your teeth to stay alive and let out a sigh of relieve; or even a laugh out loud quite often as well.

Super fun
Brought me back to the fun books of my elementary school days, but for adults.

A must have for anyone's book collection.
James's genre of books really connect the reader to the character. I love going back over and over again trying to fumble my way into the different endings. Your book shelf is not fully complete or diversified until you have a James Schannep book.

Great concept and very well written!
Who didn't love being able to make decisions as a kid reading Choose Your Own Adventure books? Brings me back to the 4th grade, but very well written and intended for adults. Great!

Schannep, James Schannep
I love the author’s style. The book delivers pulpy Bond goodness without taking itself too seriously. You can count on Mr. Schannep to deliver a lighthearted, but well researched romp that leans into genre tropes without feeling formulaic. All in all, you can’t go wrong with any of the Click your Poison books, and Spied is particularly fun.A word of warning, if it isn’t obvious, this is a book where you make choices. As such, the writing and the reading experience might be a bit different from what you are used to. If you aren’t looking for that specifically, or open minded for a new experience, this might not be for you.I find the best way to have a ton of fun with these books is too lean into the “role play” aspect, get into the character, narrate to yourself WHY you are making the choice you are making, and just BE the main character.

INTERESTING CONCEPT
This book didn't really work out for me... It's like attempting to put a puzzle together upside down. I guess that I'm not going to fit into the "secret agent" game?

Highly recommended
I highly recommend this book even though I haven't read it YET. I'm pretty sure I'll like it once I've actually read it. Check back regularly for updates.2 hrs. and 29 mins. later: I decided I want to experience every known story line possible so I zphipp'd a 5x8 canary yellow lined note paper from it's binding binding and created 2 columns on the left. One column is for the page # I'm currently on and the 2nd column is for the page # I choose to go to. I, then, perpetuate this into perpetuity (working my new columns toward the right side of the page). . . or when the story is force stopped. Whichever comes first. This is the only way I can keep track of each version so I don't duplicate them. Oh, and about the story--very entertaining.

Modern Day Spy Thriller where you choose what happens
This book is really well done and I've read it through a few times now. It's an example of how good 'pick a path' gamebooks can be if they are written with a great deal of thought, attention to detail, a dash of humour and with characters in it with believable motivations. There's an interesting and complex plot behind it which develops further with each reading so it has high replay value. You can see the influence of all sorts of spy thrillers in there from Bourne to James Bond to John Le Carre. 5/5 easily.

Eine erfrischende Abwechslung zur Fantasy!
Eine stilvolle Hommage an James Bond - SPIED ist eine gut durchdachte und professionelle Ergänzung zur Spielbuchwelt.

Shocking!
I bought this story to read to my class and put in our classroom library. CYOA books are popular with all of my students and even most reluctant readers love reading them as a group or individually. There is nothing indicating this is not for young readers. One of the opening pages starts with a range of expletives. Not only is this not a part of the genre, but it means I cannot use the book for its intended purpose - sharing with my class. Whilst I can omit the expletives when reading aloud, it can’t be used in the library. I just think the expletives are not only unnecessary, but don’t even aid character development. I’d avoid and go with the real CYOA brand.
