No more Lily Morton for me...
Yet another rom-com series from Lily Morton. The question we should be asking is 'can she write anything else'??Yes, I liked the characters but unfortunately the author's work seems to be revolving solely around [near enough] the same storyline for every series. One character who seems to have lost the plot [usually the older one], one who is younger and has more sense and sass, and all set in an imaginary world where nothing really bad ever happens and money is no object. I know this is fiction, but some of the REAL WORLD with all of its many faults should surely peek through at some stage??Felix/Max and Charlie/Misha are my predictions for the following stories. Will I read them?? Probably not, I think I've had enough of unrealistic, sugary sweet storylines.

Sassy, snarky, chaotic and utterly enthralling.
I absolutely love everything by this author which means when she publishes a new book, my expectations are very high. So far, each book of hers has been an absolute pleasure to read and Best man is no exception. On the contrary, I loved it.Jesse is such a fab character. He’s a little bit sassy; a little bit soppy and totally sexy! He barrels through life on a cloud of fun times and happy moments and he brings a unique joy to whatever situation he finds himself in. The owner of the agency he works for, Zeb, is older, stuffier but definitely full on phwoarrrrrr! Or so Jesse thinks, but the man is aloof and contained and convinced he’s much too old for the young lad that trails chaos wherever he treads. In truth, Zeb is attracted to Jesse however, he’d never admit it to himself of anyone else.So the growly, gorgeous Zeb finds himself in a situation that requires Jesse to pretend to be his boyfriend. Zeb’s ex is getting married to a woman and somehow Zeb ended up being best man and the entire situation is hideously cringey but he’s nto a man to back down from his promises so he drags Jesse into the mess which only becomes more tangled when Zeb and Jesse end up having sexual shenanigans and falling for one another. All the predicable inevitables ensue with Zeb having a huge case of doubts leading to misunderstandings and achy angsty moments. Jesse, bless him, simply gets snarkier and more devious leaving Zeb red-faced and lacking the confidence he’s well known for. His ordered, organised life is sent into a tail spin by Jesse and Zeb both loves and hates it.The book is a riot. It’s hilariously funny and properly sad. The characters are brilliant with a supporting cast that obviously deserve their own stories to be told. I was particularly keen on Zeb’s pa, Felix. Lily Morton’s ability to write an engaging, enthralling and deeply satisfying romantic book is never more evident than with Best Man. I highly recommend it and look forward to the rest of the series.

Great start to series
Lilly's British humour shines through again and I love it.The build up from boss/employee relationship to falling hard for each other is brilliant.Jesse, twenty four, is funny, impulsive, witty, sassy the complete opposite of Zeb who is serious, organised, forty four and Jesse's boss.Zeb needs a date for his ex's wedding he can't think of anyone better than Jesse, he's perfect for the role.Jesse's sass proves to be Zeb's undoing, he starts to fall for him hard. There a fab secondary characters and can't wait for their stories, especially Felix and Max. Highly recommend.

An extremely well written and unputdownable book
I love all Lily Morton’s books and am blown away that they just keep getting better. The characterisation is well thought out, it is a funny and emotional journey without ridiculous over the top angst. There are touching moments, hot moments and a little bit of a sniffle moment. I am looking forward to more in this series and will certainly read them all.

Another excellent read
Lily Morton has something of a formula in her books, but it is very much one that works. Her books are full of warmth and humour and feelings. Love is important. Family is important. Friends are important. There is a familiarity about her work that makes every book a comfort read, even if one has not read the book before. I always know that I am in for a lovely read when I open a new book by this author, and she has again delivered with Best Man. Bravo for another excellent read and I cannot wait for the next one.

Great humour.
Loved the witty, laugh out loud moments. Loved both main characters and the supporting characters as well. I wanted to shake Zeb as he was totally oblivious to his ex's machinations at times. Hope Charlie gets a story next he is really sweet.

Lots of sarc. Read it.
What a great read. I love when a story makes me laugh out loud. As a Londoner, I love sarcasm. The storyline was not original, however it took nothing away from the enjoyment of the read. Looking forward to the next one. Well done Lily
