Xtreme Replacement PTO Compatible with/Replacement for Ogura MA-GT-JD11 Heavy Duty Fatboy & HighTorque Upgrade

Bought for my Simplicity walk behind mower. The fit was perfect. The hassle was in the machine design, the clutch has performed flawless half a season and running in a homeowner machine 2plus hrs a week. Xtreme has a pretty good reputation and good selection for various machines.

This item arrived as expected. The install process was a bit tedious given the location under the mower engine, but if you follow the instructions it is a do-it-yourself installation. After the install, I followed the break-in instructions. It has worked perfectly now for several months, and I would expect it to last several years. The reason for only 4 stars is that the part was quite expensive. Other vendors charged even more, so I guess it was reasonable from that perspective.

I had never replaced a clutch, but this unit is much more impressive (heavier, shinier) than the original 20 (?) year old original JD clutch. I liked it very much before installing it, and it worked great for the remainder of the lawn cutting season. The only problems I had, aside from working "blind" underneath of the raised tractor, was that the new clutch was a little bit larger and wouldn't mount properly with the existing stop pin - but it was no problem cutting that off, and relying upon the tractor's metal frame to stop the clutch from twisting (as the stop pin did on the smaller clutch). (Funny story- after weeks of struggling with the old clutch, and diagnosing, and waiting, then installing the new clutch, when I was testing it by cutting the lawn, it seemed to cut unevenly and would begin to smoke and smell like burning rubber - which freaked me out - until I looked under the tractor and saw that I had not aligned the belt onto all the pulleys before tightening-up the tension. Doh!) I would buy again (hopefully not needed), and would buy again from this company.

I bought this clutch as a replacement for my original equipment Ogura MA-GT-JD11 clutch. I must say I believe this Xtreme unit is heavier duty than the original Ogura clutch. Be advised that although the overall dimensions are very similar, the height of this unit is greater than the O.E. If clearance is not an issue, no problems. It did require me to remove a lower frame member on my Craftsman ZT7000 mower to install the Xtreme, but it was not a big deal to remove and reinstall. I think this unit is better than the Ogura, it is certainly quieter on engaging. I hope this is the last time I need to deal with a clutch issue, but if I needed another, I would purchase an Xtreme clutch again. NOTE---PLEASE follow the guidelines on the proper torque setting when attaching this clutch to your mower.

The mower this went on gets ruff treatment and is used to earn money for a first vehicle. Has worked flawlessly. I forgot the model and brand but used the OEM number on the original part to find this part.
