Look The Part
The price of the book at the time was the main attraction for me as to why I bought it but it turned out to be a great read I really enjoyed. I loved that they kept getting caught out in their sexy time that was funny and don't get me started on the crusty wash clothes ew teenage boys enough said on that subject. like Flint I wasn't keen on Ellen's Rat babies.

Five Musical Stars
It never stops being an absolute thrill reading an author for the very first time and falling in love with their every word page after page. The beauty of Jewel E. Ann’s writing and the detail with which she renders her characters took my breath away time and time again, weaving a story that is sexy, funny, sad, and everything in between, and entirely impossible to put down. I read this book in my bed, on the bus, while leaning on a shopping cart in the middle of a busy supermarket, and even once in the shower because I just couldn’t stop. It’s a story of opposites attracting, of second chances at finding love and happiness, of forgiveness, of family bonds, of pet rats, of life giving us exactly what we need even when we don’t think we’re ready or deserving of it, and while it might have been my first time reading this author, I am now the proud owner of her entire back catalogue.Former football player and later agent for one of NFL’s hottest quarterbacks (story told in One), Flint Hopkins is now a successful attorney, a widower, and dad to a mildly autistic twelve-year-old boy. His entire life revolves around his work and raising his child, needing absolute control in every aspect of his daily life in order to chase his demons away and not let himself drown in guilt and regret. Because for the past ten years, Flint Hopkins has believed that he lost his right to happiness the day he killed his wife in a drunken car accident.Flint’s carefully controlled life is thrown into disarray when a young music therapist rents the space above his office, the imperfect silence of his thoughts suddenly replaced by the sound of drums, singing, and his new tenant’s effervescent personality. Ellen Rodgers comes into his life like a whirlwind, stirring in him an unexpected storm of conflicting emotions and desires. She hums, she laughs, she touches freely, and she voices her every emotion, thawing the ice around Flint’s heart one tie tug at a time.Desperate to evict her and return to his bongo-free life as soon as possible, Flint uses his cool, detached demeanour to keep their relationship solely professional, but the more he pushes Ellen away, the deeper she gets under his skin, making him wonder whether he might be deserving of a second chance after all. And then a whole bunch of other crazy, wonderful stuff happens to them which I’m not going to spoil for you at all.In Ellen, the author crafts one of the most lovable yet complex female characters I’ve ever had the pleasure of encountering—a perfect counterpart to Flint’s joyless one—and as she shares her story slowly, gently, we fall in love with her long before all the details from her past come to the surface to pull us in even deeper. We are drawn to her exuberance, her honesty, her joie de vivre, and her spirit. She is the yin to Flint’s yang, balancing his darkness with her sparkle, and by loving him so unreservedly, for the first time in a decade, he begins to believe that he might be worthy of the life he got to live. The whole story comes together under Jewel E. Ann’s exquisite prose, separating itself from the rest with its snappy dialogue, and the depth of emotion present in every single interaction between the characters, often communicated with so few words. I laughed, I hummed along, I even shed a tear or two, and I already cannot wait to read this book all over again.

5 I want this life Stars 🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠
I love Flint Hopkins that's all there is to say. I loved him when I met him in another of Jewels books - One ( which was fab ) I didn't know then that he had his own story until the end of that book. I was actually going to beg this Author to give us Flints book that's how much I loved him. I wanted to know his secrets, now that I do he's stolen even more of my heart.Flint Hopkins isn't perfect he's flawed and very closed off. Yes he's made mistakes he lives with the tragedy everyday. That tragic night cost him dearly and almost destroyed him. The only thing keeping him going is the love for his son Harrison.Flint isn't looking for love he doesn't think he deserves it.Looking after his son has been his only priority for such a long time. That is until a beautiful redhead rents a property from him and she gets under his skin like no other woman has for the past 10 years.Ellen Rodgers I have huge love for this woman she's a music lover with a penchant for pet rats. I liked her quirkiness straight away. She's a breath of fresh air for Flint. She challenges him and makes him wish for things he never thought he'd want again. There's also the bond she has with Harrison that Flint can't ignore, his son doesn't form emotional attachments easily but it seems he has to this Music Therapy teacher.I loved everything about this story it's a very captivating emotional journey. Once I started I couldn't put this book down. Such a compelling read that put a huge smile on my face. I adored Harrison this little guy says exactly what he thinks but he made me laugh so much. I'd love to see some kind of spin off story with him in the future.Another massive hit from Jewel E Ann. This Author has fast become one of my favourites.

Humorous, emotional and insightful. Perfect!
This book doesn't just look the part, it's perfect. It delivers everything I adore in a story. It's humorous, it's emotional, it's insightful and where necessary it doesn't pull its punches. Flint Hopkins has a lot to feel guilty about. However, even though we are shown his arrogance, his weakness, which in the past led him to making a catastrophic decision, I was never able to dislike him. Perhaps it's because this author is exceptional at telling it like it is, yet allowing her characters to redeem themselves in other ways, in ways which seem real and justified. Years of regret have understandably taken its toll on Flint and it will take someone special to break through his dour exterior. There's no doom and gloom here, however, and chapters from Flint's point of view had me giggling as they show us that he's not completely shut down. His surly manner is wonderfully balanced with the humour of his gloriously funny secretary Amanda and his interactions with his son Harrison. Harrison is a sweetheart. I love his honesty and forthright approach to life. His personality and manner are clearly something which have been written with care and thoughtfully executed.Flint has met his match in Ellen. I have to say I want to hug this author for creating the beautiful soul that is Ellen Rodgers. A music therapist she is kind and intelligent, witty and tenacious and full of life. She is all these things without being sickly sweet. She's had her own share of heartache but hasn't allowed this to weaken her resolve. When life challenges her, she rolls up her sleeves and gets on with it. She is a joy to read and I love her. One of my favourite book heroines ever.Look the Part is a beautiful story about regret and forgiveness, redemption and second chances. I laughed, I cried, I sighed with happiness across the pages of this book and I didn't want it to end.
