Expect several hours of wrenching to remove the OEM starter and install the replacement as the PS pump needs to be removed as well as a fuel filter housing. The tractor spins considerably faster on the new starter which means that it fires up quick. I wish I had replaced the OEM starter some years ago but then Amazon was not an option. It was shipped out of New Jersey landing at my door in Ontario via Canada Post in four days which seems amazing considering the complexity of the shipping system.

After finally getting the old starter off of my Long 510 (see below for details), this one went on much easier. It is about 2” shorter. It spins faster and is a big improvement over the original, not to mention about 1/2 the price of online parts houses.To remove the old one I had to remove the hand primer pump, loosen the injector distributer bolts, and remove the primary fuel filter bowl. Obviously, the fuel system had to be bled to remove all the air. What a pain but worth it.

Starter fit perfectly. It's also 2in shorter than the orginal one . Which means if I have to change it in the future I won't have to remove my power steering pump of my Long DT460.
