An Incredibly Valuable Guide for Content Creators
I’ve learned that following the actions of successful people who are doing the types of things I would like to do is one of the best ways to become successful. In this book, JLD does just that in over 200 pages of plain language by telling his story in detail, and by explaining how others have also achieved their goals and dreams.I particularly like when he tells the story of other entrepreneurs like Hal Elrod. They are like mini “Entrepreneur on Fire” podcast interviews, and really help to illustrate the ideas he is covering. As a long time listener of John Lee Dumas’ podcast, Entrepreneur on Fire, I also value the mistakes and struggles that John and his guests often share. That theme is covered pretty extensively in the book, which adds a lot of value. The idea of mentorship is another theme that comes up often in the book, and I feel as though JLD and his soon-to-be wife Kate have both become mentors to me over the years through email, in person/Zoom meetings and their outstanding online course and community, Podcaster’s Paradise. The advice he offers re: masterminds is also pure gold. In fact, that section alone is worth many times the cost of this book if you implement the ideas shared by JLD and others. He continues later in the book by covering other income-producing content, including: courses, virtual summits, paid challenges, physical products and more. And the information he and Amy Porterfield share on building and managing virtual teams is just amazing. He also details one example of a service he created for podcasters that did not work out as he had planned (and why that was actually a blessing in disguise). The information in Chapter 7 on how to build a Content Production Plan is also outstanding. It’s rare to have a peek behind the curtain to see how someone has been able to create thousands of podcasts and probably tens of thousands of other content items since 2012.In that chapter, JLD also discusses specifically how he was able to get the book done, and how he worked through some roadblocks. He also explains the benefits of publishing an income report since 2013. He even shares the text of an invitation letter for prospective guests, which I found to be invaluable. The information about reviewing the actions you take is fantastic, and the part about how he and Kate were able to take vacations up to 90 days in length and still keep their business running profitably was amazing!Another golden piece of content is the two page overview by Pat Flynn on Creating Content at the end of Chapter 8.I also found the information on Sales Funnels in Chapter 12 to be eye-opening. As someone who is familiar with a lot of JLD’s products, I can now better understand how he has been making everything work together. And JLD’s step-by-step process for igniting podcast traffic in Chapter 14 is extremely detailed,l and very valuable for anyone who would like to book more guests and/or be a guest on more shows. The outstanding information on financial management is another reason why I will be referring to this book for years to come.I highly recommend The Common Path to Uncommon Success for anyone with a dream to make a positive difference in the world by sharing their stories, advice and/or knowledge.

Stop reading review...Go buy this now! Buy two and give one away!
As an EO Fire listener for years, and the owner of both the Freedom and Mastery journals, I knew that this book would be a great read and and a great resource as I find my way down my entreprenuerial journey. That being said, JLD has completely blown away my expectations with this work.Although this book is perfect for podcasters and online businesses specifically, the principles in it can be applied to absolutely all aspect of business. I have already shared this with my friends on facebook and instagram, lended out my hard copy to family members, and listened to the Audible version twice, and I've only had the book for 5 days! I've already shared insights from this book with some of my friends that run their own businesses as well in a variety of fields that include construction, fitness, health & Beauty products, and the apparel business. He has put together, as promised, a step-by-step guide for people to follow to that will help them achieve their goals. There's no gimmicky, "do this and you'll be rich next month," but there are a lot of, "do this now and consisitently for a long time and you'll find uncommon successes!" Steps like, niching down until you have the potential to do what no one else has done in a business sector before, identify and define your perfect customer, "batching" work to do more that seems possible. JLD doesn't sugar coat anything but is crystal clear, do the right things, in the right order, and find the right people to support you (mentors and/or mastermind groups) and put in a lot of hard work and success will follow. His story alone would be insipiring and also be an incredible path to follow, however, he didn't just stop with his story as he found 16 other huge names in the entreprenuerial world to contribute parts of their story to this book.He has made the path to uncommon success a clear one that all who chose, may follow.Reading this book could be a life changing event for you. It is literally a Red Pill/Blue Pill moment...Choose the Red Pill!As I encouraged in the title, buy at least 2 copies now, because I know that you'll want to give at least one copy away to someone!

The best, most practical and inspiring business/personal development book I have ever read
I listened to this book on audible first and found it so helpful that I bought the book too. I really loved it all and was sad when I finished it. I am looking forward to working through the steps. It includes lots of personal info, stats and stories from other successful entrepreneurs. It is really inspiring but also is a how to guide on what you need to do to be successful. I tell everyone about this book.My overall takeaway is- try hard, work smart and you WILL be successful. It’s not about being lucky or having connections, it’s about working hard, creating helpful content and helping people. If you can find a way to be really helpful then you will be successful.I had already had an idea for a new business but listening to The Common Path to Uncommon Success cemented in my mind that it was the right thing to do.Now I just need to work through the 17 steps and I will achieve Uncommon Success- yippee!
