Solid, Looks good, a little challenging to install
We needed this gate (x2) to keep our elderly cat out of the formal living room and dining room. The gate is elegant, looks great, and does the trick as hoped. It is (Or was for me!) a bit challenging to install. A lot more parts and assembly than I anticipated. They need to work on developing an easier to install/use gate.

Rather difficult to install if conditions are not perfect
This is a rather sturdy product, that seems to hold up well enough under the assault of a 19 months old. However, installing it is a bit tricky if the distance between the top ends and the bottom ones is different. If, for instance, you try to install it between a wall and a stair post ( where, say, the bottom of the post is encased in wood or anything else like a pedestal, making the width at the bottom narrower than the one at the top, where there's only the stair post, no enclosure ), you're going to have difficulties. I managed to rig it using one of the extenders and repurposing the ends from the small extension - not ideal, but managed to get it to fit the ( granted ) special location. It was also a bit difficult to manage by myself under these conditions, trying to get it installed leveled and to stay that way while screwing it in place. However, once that part was done, it works like a charm. Easy to adjust the pressure so that it latches properly, easy to open by adults and an good deterrent for the little one to get on the stairs. So it does it job perfectly - the design and color even make it seem like it's part of the original stairs. Overall, happy with the purchase, would've just preferred a little less hassle during installation, with a few more customization options in terms of extensions.

Work great, look great!
We bought these to keep our dogs out of certain rooms, and to prevent them from going upstairs. They're fairly easy to install, with instructions of course, and they look and function great. Very sturdy. Super happy with this purchase.

Nice option for a taller safety gate
Needed a 36" tall gate to use effectively as a pet barrier. There are fewer options for 36" than 24". So that weeded out a lot of options. Looked in to those remaining and liked the options and featured of this model. It looks nice, installs easy and is fairly sturdy. It's mostly metal with some plastic for the latch and hinge mechanisms. That said, the plastic bits are the more durable variety of plastic. Install was easy and, if you just read the instructions, you should be fine. If you rush, you will probably not be too happy and the install will be less sturdy. I will also add that most all options will have strengths and weaknesses. For this price point, you won't find that perfect gate. You can find a very good one and with the right install you will likely be very pleased with this option. To that point, here are a few useful install tips...1. Order the pressure gate wall protector cups that go between the gate's pressure tension screws and the surfaces that the tension screws will be pressing against. These make a huge difference in stability, allows more flexibility in where you can install, and you have the option of mounting the cups with a single screw through the middle if you want even further stability and peace of mine. I opted to mount the wall protector cups on the top two pressure tension screws where they meet the wall. I opted to leave the bottom two as simple wall protectors with pressure only. The top two because that is where the majority of the pressure will be applied when opening and closing the gate which would make the top of the gate more prone to slipping over time. It made a world of difference with the stability of the gate.2. When you install a pressure gate, take the time to think about which way you want the gate to open. It's best the gate can open against a wall for when you want to leave the gate open and keep it out of your way.3. Take the time to be sure your safety gate is level top to bottom and front to back. It's easy to do and will ensure the gate opens and closes as it should while providing an overall studier install. Just get the gate installed with enough pressure so that you can nudge it with a bit or pressure and make small adjustments until it is level. Then, fully tighten up the pressure screws. It will make a big difference in the stability of your gate.4. If using extensions, put the largest extensions on the hinge side. It is the studier side. The open side inherently has less stability and adding extensions to that side makes that weak point more prevalent. This is not a design flaw. It is just the reality of any pressure gate that the open side will be the weakest point.5. Try to evenly adjust the depth of the pressure screws. This will keep the gate square and more sturdy overall. These little things take very little time, but will make any pressure gate install far sturdier and reliable.

Sturdy gate, challenging locking mechanism
3.5 stars is my rating. I'm on the fence (pun intended) about how to accurately rate this product. After 17 months of use, the locking mechanism has failed. I am outside the manufacturer return/replacement period of 1-year. This gate is being used as a barrier for a 10-lb dog. The gate is opened 2 -3 times a week for access in the area it blocks, so not excessive use and not even daily wear and tear. It's always been a stiff, tight child-proof lock that could be difficult to open with one hand for anyone who doesn't have the strength/dexterity. It's also a pain to install but only because of the pressure mounting system. I couldn't manage squeezing it into the space between the walls by myself, but my husband was able to manage with a little help from me. May require two people, depending on how good you are with these kind of things. It is well-made, sturdy and looks good. Even though the locking mechanism is frozen, the casing around it is removable (it has screws to remove one of the plastic plates) and I can see that the springs and plastic need some adjusting. Another reviewer on here even mentioned cutting one of the springs to loosen the stiffness. But I decided to remove the insides for now since I'm not using this for a child or large dog. It's a small dog, who isn't a digger or aggressive in her exploration, so I can simply slide down one of the tabs on the bottom of the gate opening that keeps it from swinging open both ways. This was, the dog can never push it open, and I can open it easily without the baby proof lock. So while I don't think the lock is permanently broken and could be fixable, it's just a bummer that after 17 months, it requires some intervention on my part with light use. I wouldn't say to not get it or that it's not worth the money. This gate is not a piece of junk and is well-made for what it is. But just know that the lock may require some mechanical tweaking in the future.

Nice gate with 1 major defect
Beautiful gate, goes well the pickets in my staircase. However very difficult to open the handle, super tight. (Likely not all gates have this issue but have read a few reviews with same issue)Decided to open it up and take a look, there are 2 springs as you can see in the pics. The fat one on the left is what causes the tightness. I used a pair of snipes and cut a tiny piece of the spring and tried it again and it was loser but still not to my liking so I cut a bit more (in total I cut 2 loops) now it’s easy to open for adults. Still very secure and I couldn’t be happier. Hope this helps. (Use safety goggles as the little piece of metal from spring can come flying up)

some reviews didnt read directions nice gate
I was able to put this gate up alone. One thing I was worried it wouldn't fit as the 2 bar extention was to big and without was to small. so i managed to get the 1 bar extension only to fit i was worried it was to small but it was okay. so when i got it up and followed fhe directions i thought the gate wasnt wide enough like it wasnt meeting the latch. pull the gate in hard and extend the screw and twist the thing to keep it closer.. it would have been easier with help but i managed. its been up just under 5 days and hasnt moved. my 1 yr old uses it to stand up it is sturdy. the height it higher than those cheap wood/plastic gates i used to just step over that but cant with this. my dog (chihuahua) would climb/jump over our cheap gate that was like a lattice plastic.. so now he stays where i want him when im not home. it looks nice and modern and no one has tripped over the bar along the bottom which is what keeps it as 1 piece. the extra parts im saving encase we move. the directions said the plastic bits are in the gate already and need to be removed.. someone said that it should say it does. use the screws to get them out.

Don't rely on the company for support.
I ordered this gate in advance as I had a new puppy arriving and needed to gate off the stairs. It's a beautiful well made gate but was missing 2 important parts. The information from the company stated that if parts were missing to contact the company directly rather than Amazon and they would supply the parts. I debated sending it back but the puppy was arriving within days and I really needed it. I was encouraged by the company's promise of service if parts were missing. So I rigged up something to hold it in place temporarily and contacted the company by email as instructed. No reply to repeated emails. I then contacted Amazon for support - I had had a good experience in the past with Amazon getting a response from a company that supplied a defective item. Amazon customer support said they couldn't help so I could return it or accept a discount for the incomplete item. I wasn't happy with either choice but was forced to keep the incomplete gate because the puppy had arrived and I had no other option. I live in a rural area with no retail source near by.So BOO! to this company for saying they provide support when they don't and BOO! to Amazon customer support too.

So easy, so beautiful, so safe
Ok. I did countless hours of research on baby dates before getting these because they’re all too short, not wide enough, have reviews of missing or easily broken pieces, mark your walls, etc.But these gates are awesome!!! I bought two and on one accidentally cut the zip tie it says to leave on until the end (didn’t see that sign fast enough). You leave it to make installation easier and oh man does it lol could install it on my own VERY easily.I love that you can just swing it behind you and it self-closes (SO convenient when carrying a baby and a thousand other things). I needed the extra wide for approx 43” and 45”. For 43”, I used two medium bars (take out the single bar) and for the 45” I used everything included. Really just followed the manual that tells you which bars to use for each size range. Fool proof. Now I didn’t need the extra tall but oh man does it make a difference on your back. I bought for convenience and it really is convenient! It was an added bonus that the design is so modern and nice. Really looks great and is sturdy. We didn’t use the wall plugs to hold it in place because we didn’t want to put holes in the wall. The pressure mounts with just fine for now with baby pulling herself up to stand. It’s only been a week but they’ve been superb.

Great safety gate… with a few comments
Great safety gate, with a few comments if you’re picky like me:Easy to install. No tools required, except for a tape measure if you don’t want to install it twice. Very sturdy once I got it installed correctly - there is no way a toddler is breaking through this. Although it is pressure mounted, the instructions do require you either screw or sticker fasten a wall cup to your wall (which will definitely remove paint later on…). I chose to buy some cheaper wall cup protectors on Amazon for $10 and it fully protects my banister now. Works great.***Word of caution: The gate itself measures 27” and as the instructions state, there are 3 extender pieces that can be added to fit up to a 47” gap. My space is 32” wide on the top, and 31” wide on the bottom, which made it too narrow for any extender to be added making the gate very wobbly (the pressure bolts had to be fully extended which makes the connection loose). Fortunately the gate comes with a few male-to-male attachments meant to connect other extender pieces - I had to use my drill to modify the hole to extend the gate and now it fits great (picture attached). So if your dimensions are complicated like mine (for example, baseboard trim on the bottom where the gate will connect), be prepared for a bit of McGivor’ing.
