Not the item advertised.
I have used this kind of seed log for years. I always buy them six at a time and just hit "re-buy" when I need more. This is a single log, not the six that the order and description indicates. This "Pine Tree Farms 6 Pack, Classic Nutsie Seed Log 80oz 8004 Made in USA." is NOT a six pack.

The birds love these nut logs!
These are by far the best nut logs on the market. I have tried other brands and flavors, but these are the ones the birds eat and that last. Other nut logs of similar size are not as densely packed with "heavy" nut meats so they are easily demolished by the flocks of birds I get EVERY day throughout the year. These withstand the rain and snow as well as summer sun. I have periods of time that the crows, band-tailed pigeons, flickers, downy woodpeckers, chickadees, juncos, towhees, and jays will eat one of these every few days during migrations spring and fall..then it will fall of to a lull of one every one or two weeks for the remainder of the year. Not cheap, but other nut logs disappear in a day due to less dense nut meats or are ignored completely to rot because the birds do not like them.

Expensive, but a special treat
Birds and squirrels fight over these when I set them out. They look pretty tasty, too -- looks like 100% nuts and fruit with no filler. They're expensive, but very nutritionally dense with no waste. I set them out in wintertime and in spring when animals need the calories the most. One big log will last me about four days, less if the squirrels just park themselves on top of it and eat it like it's a giant pile of pizza.

Every birds favorite...and then some
I put one of the large 4-5 lb ones out and it lasts about two weeks (would be longer but I have a Douglas Squirrel who is extremely possessive of, well, everything Nut related..the woodpeckers, nuthatches, chickadees, blue jays and yes, squirrels, all take turns. I use these as my main way to feed the birds as they dont get as dirty as regular birdfeeders and they look happier, working for their reward somehow.

My bad for not reading the fine print
RIP OFF! as others have noted, Read sizes carefully!! The regular, full size log is 96 oz. I bought 2 of these "on a lightning sale" for 16.99 each, marked down off the "regular" price of $29.99. Since I usually pay $20.00 at my local store for the 96oz log, I bit. But I recieved 2 tiny little 40 oz logs that usually sell for around 8.00. I assumed for the price I was paying, and the listed original price, I was getting large size. My bad for not reading the fine print. But Pine tree should be ashamed for either gouging, or intentionally duping, their customers at the holidays. Grinch award.

birds love these
These big seed blocks attract many birds - jays, flickers, sapsuckers and smaller birds. Squirrels and other birds scavenge the bits that fall on the ground.

Update: i will never buy this again unless they change their packaging. I sliced my finger today trying to get it out!. Original review: Birds like it but was hard as heck to get out of container.

Insect seed log
I had the seed log out for over two weeks & No birds showed any interest. The insects seemed to like it. I live in Ohio & have been feeding the wildlife for years. I will have to try another brand.
