Hugger Mugger Tapas Ultra Yoga Mat - Outstanding 1/4″ Soft Cushion, Lightweight, Made in the USA Sticky Mat, Durable and Long-Lasting

I’ve tried to do upward bow pose for a while with my Gaiam yoga mat. However, my hands kept slipping. I barely sweating, I am sure my hand is always dry. One day my yoga classmate told me maybe is mat issue, so I tried to do the same pose upward bow on her hugger mugger mat. Immediately I feel difference, so I decided to buy a hugger mugger yoga mat.I received this yoga mat just three days and I already total fall in love with it. I’ve tried several poses and my hands stay sturdily. And it is really lightweight but comfortable. I left knee had been surgery, so my knee bone is very sensitive to hard ground. This Hugger mugger mat did a good support for both my hands and knees. I love it and highly recommend to yoga lover. It’s not expensive but do the same job for me, if compared with Jade or manduka brand.

I ordered this because I wanted a thick yoga mat. It is thick but not as thick as I would have liked, I still often have to double it up to protect my elbows and knees. However the surface is comfortable and just the right amount of sticky. And I love the color. Works well enough for my purposes.

This mat is fly paper sticky. It's not as thick as I was expecting, but still offers some cushion while still being lightweight. Like some reviews said, it does leave imprints from pressure, but they go away fairly quickly. I prefer plastic mats to rubber so this is a solid choice for a plastic mat.

I did a ton of research before buying this mat. I am just beginning yoga practice, so I wanted something that wasn't overly expensive but would still do a great job. I read review after review about other mats falling apart. When I read the reviews on this mat, I was sold. I followed the advice of another reviewer and prepped my mat before I used it for the first time. I scrubbed it really well with warm water and a little dish soap, rinsed and let it dry thoroughly before rolling it and putting it away. This mat is comfortable. It's squishy without flattening completely. It works really well on hard floors and carpet. My toddler often wants to do yoga with me and this mat is long enough to accommodate both of us as he follows most of my poses (I'm not tall by any means: 5' 4", my point is that this mat is long enough to accommodate a much taller person than me). If his interest in yoga continues, I'll have to buy him his own mat. I would definitely buy this mat again. Squishy and comfortable, but easy to roll and carry around.

No smell. No slipping. Light weight. Comfortable. If you pay three times as much for a yoga mat (which I did), you get a mat that is stiffer and that provides a little more support for the pressure areas. I found that this is an excellent mat for the money that I spent.

The material began crumbling off this mat on my second use! I always used the regular thickness Hugger Mugger Tapas mat and it held up fine. I don't know if this one is so flimsy because it's the thicker version or if they started getting them made more cheaply but the quality is not good. I also was expecting the thicker material would be more cushioned for my knees but it's not denser, it's just fluffier (more air), so when it has weight on it it gets very thin -- no more cushioned than the standard thickness.The foam crumbled off in two places already, so it's completely bald in those areas. This began on my second use. This is very disappointing for two reasons: the cost of this mat is high (and it was the second one I purchased because I accidentally left the first one I bought in a Lyft!) and also because it is NOT BIODEGRADABLE. I had considered not purchasing it because it is not environmentally sustainable but I expected it would last a long time so I bought it anyhow (because I like the Tapas material much better than the more eco-friendly mats I've tried, which are not as sticky and are too hard).I guess my search for the ideal yoga mat continues...

I love this mat. I had a Tapas Ultra mat that I got as a gift when I was in my 20s and now I am much older (the mother of two teenagers!) and the mat just recently started to shred. It's just the right amount of sticky and grip without being too sticky. There is no weird smell. It's just thick enough to be comfortable without compromising balance or form. I use this mat for yoga and also for ab workouts and ballet barre style workouts. I bought many mats trying to find "the perfect mat" and I finally just went back to a new mat in my favorite style and I couldn't be happier. My old Tapas Ultra lasted nearly 20 years so I'm hoping this one will too.

This mat did feel like a dream while it lasted! It has a strong, sweet smell when first unrolled, which fades with time. I found the break-in period to be tough: at first, it was simultaneously too sticky and too slippery, and its smell could fill a room. After I broke it in, I loved everything about it: it is soft and light and unrolls and rolls up effortlessly. It provides a good deal of cushion for being so lightweight, and it typically stays flat when unrolled. It's easy to clean (except once it starts disintegrating) and the extra long is perfect for tall people.With near-daily use practicing Baptiste and Yin yoga (typically outdoors on my deck; not in a heated room) I began to notice pieces of mat flaking away from the areas where my hands and feet typically rest. After a few short months of using this mat, I was covered in little rubbery flakes from the mat and the mat would travel with my foot as I moved from back to front.I have had my share of yoga mats in my 15 years of practice, and I typically replaced them because they weren't grippy enough or were too short. Only one other mat disintegrated like this one, but that was over a period of two years. That one was a budget, brandless mat, though; this one is not.

There is no slipping on this mat. I am 6 ft tall and it is longer than regular mats. Best purchase I could have made in a yoga mat!

Mat is very suitable for the yoga I do. I like the colour. It has a good, slightly grippy surface.
