Vandoren CR153 Contrabass Clarinet Traditional Reeds Strength 3; Box of 5

Vandoren clarinet reeds have substantial bark/stock that I have found over many years to control the sound more easily than thinner reeds. Playing BBb contrabass clarinet in a 15 member clarinet choir requires a wide dynamic range. Vandoren reeds make it easy for me to get good response from pp to ff.

These reeds are the best available for a contra alto/bass clarinet. Too bad they are on the pricey side.

vandoren is one of my favorite brand of reeds to use. the reeds fits perfectly on the mouthpiece.

I have always enjoyed using Vandoren reeds for all of my clarinets. I have been playing Contra-Alto for over 20 years, and these are the best around, easy to find, and relatively affordable. 50 bucks is a lot for 5 reeds, but this box will last me about a year based on how often I am playing right now.

Work well and sound good I have no complaints

My son's plays the Contract Alto clarinet. The thing is a monster! Though I had a bit of sticker shock with the reeds it needed, Amazon made the price more palatable.My son's says these reeds feel and sound better than that which he had previously.

Probably the only alright contra reeds on the consumer market. Be warned: if you want to get a good sound, you're going to need to manually adjust the reed with sandpaper or a reed knife. They're just too inconsistent. Out of the box of 5, maybe 1 or 2 will be viable initially. The others will have to be worked on.
