Tak is a beautiful game with simple rules and deep strategy. Two players take turns either adding one of their pieces to the board or moving a piece or a stack under their control. The goal is simple: make a road of your color connecting opposite sides of the board. Building on classic games such as Chess, Mancala, and Go, Tak joins a long tradition of games that take minutes to learn and a lifetime to master. With variable board sizes from 3x3 to 6x6, Tak offers challenges and excitement for players of all skill levels.

Pretty good
So I'm giving this 4 stars even though I really like the game. I have not read the books so I am probably a little more objective with the actual play of this game here. I thought it looked/sounded fun and it definitely is. It's basically the fast paced easy going fun of checkers but with some chess complexity worked in, but not so much that it takes away from the momentum of the game - which is perfect. The weird thing is that even though you feel less mentally taxed with the strategy than something like chess, it still has a pretty complex scope of possibilities and strategy. It's really a perfect sit down and have a few matches sort of game, and I think I can fairly say I like it better than checkers or chess. it really was a great idea they had and it feels like something that could have and should have been around for a long time already. My issue is the really the quality and price. I just bought a game for the same price point with pieces that look hand carved, a wooden board, and other elements that are injection molded. Tak though, is literally just a few cardboard boards with print on it, and some plain unfinished looking wood pieces. I know start up games have more overhead with this kind of stuff so I'm not going to go on about it, it's cool and I think people should get it, but I do feel it was a little barren for the price.Anyway that aside, I really like the game. Lower the price a bit or increase the quality and it's a 5 star. If you're really into the books or obsessed with this game then that price point is probably okay for you. You wont be sorry in terms of play, that I can say for sure... just be aware it's a little overpriced

Straight from the pages of the books...
As a fan of the kingkiller series I was excited to play tak. The game is great fun. My 10 year old son and I play it often and it just keeps getting more challenging. I was disappointed with the cardboard playing boards, they seem cheap and wear easy.Quality of the boards aside, I would recommend purchasing for the fun of the game. Plus, we glued up our own 5 x 5 board out of scrap oak and cherry that we play on now.

Enjoyable game!
A bit complicated at first, but an enjoyable mix of checkers and chess.

Just write your d*** book and stop making stuff
If the author put the same amount of time and effort into finishing his book series as he does into the superfluous items to go along with his series lore perhaps I would feel more excited about buying this game. Instead I’m annoyed. Finish your book rothfuss!
