Not worth the purchase.
It didn't work. Wasn't worth the money spent.

Works great
Took a while to figure out it had to have the battery installed before it would actually work. After that it works great.

First Day Experiences
This unit appears to be in excellent condition. Took it to the ATT store and they put in the a simm card connected to my account. Took it home and it powered up with the battery condition light flashing red. After a few hours, the red light turned to green indicating the battery was fully charged. The unit works well from a second floor bedroom. Bought a set of antennas to make work it even better. Will probably get another one for back up just in case, since ATT no longer sells new ones.

Works but longevity is questionable.
Short story long, this is our third such device, all IFWA-40. The first one, bought from the AT&T store did not work right out of the box. The wrong password was listed on the label. AT&T replaced it. The second worked for two years, 4 weeks, then it no longer connect with the cell tower, just 4 weeks out of warranty. A new SIM card did not fix the issue. Since these cannot be bought from AT&T anymore, or purchased new anywhere, I bought this refurbished unit from Amazon, popped in the SIM card and was off and running. However, the power cable supplied did not work. No output at all, nada, zip, dead as a door nail. The power cord from the old device had me up and running so all's well. Plus, when I called Amazon about the defective power cord/battery charger, they gave me a HUGE Amazon store credit, many times what I expected. So I am a happy camper. Now the down sides. First, this device has longevity issues. Out of three units, two had defects right out of the box, and the other one lasted until it was 4 weeks out of warranty. And none of them really connected well with our cell tower, which is located three miles away and I can see the light on the top of the tower easily at night. I only get one or two bars, tops, so when I bought this unit, I ordered the antenna set for it, hoping it would improve my signal. Now, don't get me wrong, even with only one or two bars, the device works well even with streaming movies and our home telephone. But I would like a stronger signal so I bought the antennas. The external antenna did absolutely nothing to improve signal strength. Not with one attached, not with two attached, turned very wan and at every angle, so save your $12 on the external antenna. On the BIG plus side, this unit is very easy to set up. Plug it in, turn it on, find the device on your computer, printers, ipad, iphone, blu-ray player, Direct TV box... type in the password and off you go. It handles up to 20 devices easily so even a dummy like me can set everything up in just a few minutes.

Absolute Piece Of Junk
UPDATE: After less than 6 months this unit crapped out. It's a total piece of junk and I wouldn't buy it if its the last piece of equipment available for free.t took 2 different units to finally connect with my SIM card and offer cell service. I couldn't connect to the wifi even after factory resets. Tech support walked me thru several attempts. I even asked if there were any backdoors to get into the system. On my own, I figured out that I can connect directly with the unit using the ethernet port. By doing that, I entered the system and changed the wifi password so I can get into the system when necessary. You think tech support would know that and save time and aggravation. The unit is working as it should be and hopefully won't crap out after a year like my original unit did.
