The camera installation was completely straightforward using its USB port on a Microsoft Vista-equipped Hewlett-Packard computer. Software installation was no problem and provides several video enhancements including blurring, solarizing, and stroboscopic effects. The camera also can be used to take still images. The single-leg base is a bit unusual and takes a minute to understand how to set up on a flat surface, but attaches easily to any horizontal shelf (would have preferred a tripod-base with adjustable camera head). The camera is fun to use without excessive features or a steep learning curve.All-in-all this was a GREAT purchase and have since purchased two more as gifts for friends and recommended this webcam to all who are looking for an easy-to-install / use unit. Amazon offers great pricing comparisons and "pre-owned" units should have no problem as there are no moving parts.If one wants to easily make YouTube or other personal videos (non-technical or HD and non-expensive) the Logitech webcam C250 will fill the bill very nicely and will provide hours of simple, easy-to-use pleasure.

This cam is so different from my old webcam. This webcam is very clear (which I LOVE) and is sensitive to the light in the room (which is great). My room at night, is extremely dark. I have a dim light and it barely lights my room up, however the webcam has no problem seeing me! It is amazing. Also it makes great videos and it's so easy to make them. I'd say the only slightly negative difference (if that) with this cam and my other webcam is that when in use, it seems to be further away.** UPDATE: I've had this cam for 2 years now, and I have gotten a few updates for it. The cam keeps getting better and better. Now it captures me even better. Great cam that never ends!

I bought 2 of these Logitech Webcams a few weeks ago and very happy with them.The instructions were easy to follow and about 15 or so minutes later I was testing it on Skype and the both the picture and microphone worked perfectly. The operating system I have is XP SP3.I bought the other one for a friend of mine and set it up for her also without a problem and she uses it at least 2 times a week to talk to a friend who is in Australia for a few months. I did not need tech support so I cannot say anything on that subject. If you dont want to spend a bunch of money on a higher end model I would buy this one.

This webcam was purchased for my Grandpa who is 89 and lives across the country. I'm the only person he knows with a webcam, so he didn't want to spend too much money and wasn't interested in a lot of bells and whistles. At the same time I was looking for something easy to setup and use.There was no trouble setting it up, the installation disc was no problem to use. In fact, I believe the software disc that came with it may not have been required, as for us Skype has performed far better than Logitech's "Vid" calling software. This camera, as with most, is "USB Video Class". This means XP should install it by just plugging it's cable into the computer.It has been easy to use as once the camera itself is installed all user functions are regarding your software of choice (e.g. Skype).As for picture quality, I am able to tell a noticeable difference in picture sharpness between his Logitech C250 model (1.3 megapixels) and another friend's Logitech C905 model, which has 2 megapixels. Still a good picture for the price, as this is on the low(er) end of the line.There have only been two slight issues in a month of use:(1 It would not clip to his LCD flar panel monitor, so he folded the clip (as if to sit it on a flat surface, or CRT "box" monitor) and sat it on a shelf beside his screen.(2 Occasionally it's light sensor seems to get confused and the picture will appear either red or green tinted. Moving the camera around or retarting the computer has fixed the issue every time (only 3 or 4 times in total) it has happened.Hopefully this will be helpful to the next potential buyer. :-)

The webcam that I received was the Logitech C250 (so far, so good). That's all I received. It came in a plastic bag, with no CD, no packaging, and no instructions. The bag was in a padded envelope, not the ideal way to ship electronics. The webcam doesn't work with either my PC (running Windows 7) or my laptop (running Windows XP). I had to download a 139 Megabyte file from Logitech to get the webcam to run (which I haven't accomplished yet). It causes a power surge on the hub port, which I think means that it needs more power than the USB port can deliver. Now I need to look for a powered USB hub to try to fix this problem. Nowhere in the writeup (which was lifted from the manufacturer's site) does it say that this may not work with all computers. Nowhere does it say that you will not receive everything listed on the page. In fact, there is a picture on the product page that is completely irrelevant, as it shows the webcam safely packaged in a box.Please note that all 5-star reviews for this product are actually related to the product as sold by a different vendor.
