OptiPlex HDD SSD Caddy Tray Adapter 6,35cm 2,5" - 8,89cm 3,5" R494D 0R494D for DELL PC

I purchase several things on Amazon and was giving pretty in-depth reviews. From this point on, here's the new agenda…. if it works as advertised, is well made, meets or exceeds the description, is a value, and arrives in a fair amount of time, it will get a "star rating" equal to what my expectations were/are. If it doesn't meet these criteria, then I will most definitely and descriptively tell the short comings of the products and you as a consumer will not have to go through the trouble of buying the product without some background knowledge. If the sell pulls that item and relists under another description, I will put the exact same review on the seller's feedback page. Sellers have done this a couple of times in the past, and I was true to my word then as well as now. DR

Got this for an old optiplex in order to fit a sata ssd into it since the main HDD failed, and it now holds one of those small laptop sized HDDs in this one piece alongside the sata ssd. Spectacular, and grateful something like this is still being sold for those of us looking to repurpose old hardware that still has some use left in it!

This hard to find caddy allowed me to add two SSD’s at a great price.

Works well. It fits a little too tight on the 3.5 bracket and broke one of the pins. The upside is that it's still solid, and I was actually able to mount 2 2.5 drives on one adapter with the original bracket. One is mounted on the bottom side of the original bracket, and one is mounted to the top of the new bracket. Both working well.

Realized I needed this to go with my caddy (bottom part) which I purchased. Fit well and comes with screws. Only wish they would have provided instructions on mounting. I figured out how though.

I have a Dell Optiplex 3020 mid tower and I ordered this to interface a Wd SSD drive to replace my main hard drive for system. From what I saw from the description it says it will work for my computer. But I had two main issues with the unit, 1) installing the WD SSD drive to this caddy adapter did not allow the drive to be in the same posistion as a regular hard drive so that the power and sata cables would connect properly and 2) The original HDD caddy uses little pins in place of screws to secure the HDD and it works perfectly for a regular disk drive but the holes in this caddy adapter are two small for these pins to mate together without drilling out the holes to the correct size. The unit seems to be well made but for my use was a complete waste of money and time.

The case fits perfectly in the space that corresponds to the HDD in my Dell Optiplex 3020

Basic product even has ground plane to make sure the drive is grounded to case. if you need adapter for a dell case it will work to turn their HDD holders into SSD holders.

Did the job

The holes in the tray adapter are slightly too small to fit a standard Dell drive caddy. Only came with 4 screws.Overall I'm disappointed with the product, would not recommend.
