A solid addition, but nothing mindblowing
I'd had Age of Empires III and the Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs Expansion Pack for some time, and I enjoyed them quite a bit, so I decided to give this one a shot. I figured that, if nothing else, it would at least give me some variety in skirmish and multiplayer. What I got was adequate, but not particularly great. The core game has always relied on giving each nation a gimmick, but the nations in this game are pretty much nothing but gimmicks. In War Chiefs each of the tribes had a theme which gave them certain strengths and weaknesses, but they all had the same core gameplay, which was little different from the European powers. With this expansion, the developers seem to have focused on shoveling in as much "unique" content for each nation as they can, which becomes monumentally distracting, as all this additional content is, indeed, additional to core gameplay. None of these nations share units, and most of the units they have are useless. For example: I thought to play as the Indians because, hey, elephant cavalry. I spent five minutes figuring out how their economy worked before I even tried to really get going, and when I did I discovered that elephants are effectively a separate, extremely expensive unit type, and I couldn't figure out a way to integrate them into my army. Similarly, the Chinese army building mechanic is infuriating, and the strength of the unique infantry for each nation means that I pretty much never build cavalry. Also, it must be stated that the Japanese are horrendously overpowered: I've never even been threatened with defeat in any game playing them.Given that, if you liked the core game, you'll probably have some fun with this. I did. You have to treat it as being somewhat silly to have it be really enjoyable, as some of the mechanics are hilariously ahistorical or unrealistic but still deeply rooted in the common culture. So, yeah. Don't buy the core game on the strength of this expansion, but if you like the game, this is probably worth a shot.

Amazing
This wont be a long well written review because there is enough of those out there. But to simply put it this game is just fun. If you are a fan of the age of empires 3 game this expansion pack is a must. The expansion adds so much more to the game other than just a new campaign. The new maps, characters, and overall game-play changes significantly and really adds a whole new flame to the game. If your kid enjoys strategy thell love this, if you love strategy and do not want to be limited by turn base games this game is for you. And if your like me who love to compete with friends online get this game!!As a for a few side notes this expansion is almost exclusive to online purchases since the golden edition with all three expansions has come out, the single expansions are hard to come by. Also this game can be made into a virtual disk if the player doesn't want to mess around with disks, once its done you can just store the disks away somewhere.

Great Addition to Age Series
The Asian Dynasties is a wonderful addition to the already excellent Age of Empires 3 game. Created by Big Huge Games, rather than Ensemble Studios, 'TAD' reflects everything that made Age 3 and the the Warchiefs Expansion fun: sweeping landscapes, great gameplay, diversity of different nations, etc.Whether you're marching towering elephants of India, Japanese samurai, or Chinese Cho Ko Nu, the new units look and feel real and impressive. In addition to the 3 new units, their naval units also have a distinct look and the new maps and Asian locales are truly impressive. People who watch this game take one glance and say 'wow.'This is not as good as the Age 3 'vanilla' edition or the Warchiefs expansion, but a worthy addition to your RTS collection. For those who haven't purchased any of these, the entire collection of Age3, Warchiefs, and Asian Dynasties can be purchased as a single product now. Otherwise $20 isn't bad to complete your collection.

What I think of Age of Empires III:The Asian Dynasties Expansion Pack
I liked Age of Empires III so much when I seen Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties Expansion Pack, I immediately bought it because I wanted a game where I was challenged more of a fight with the enemies. I went through Japan like it was nobody's business but when I got to the Chinese, I'm stuck on the last area of the country. I am giving it a rest for now to try to figure out a way I can rescue my crew without dieing myself. As far as I played it, I love it. I can't wait to order another game. If you want to buy it, I strongly buying it. It will challenge your skills, if you dare.

RULEZ
Enough said. This is a great expansion pack. I mostly use the Chinese civilization. I've always enjoyed AOE and this product adds yet another great chapter to a game that I never get sick of. The export option adds a neat twist allowing you to build and receive troops from other civilization you can ally with. The ability to produce troops from the wonders is pretty cool too and comes in handy for focusing on the economy while you constantly produce troops for free. I'd say check it out. If you already have the original 3rd and war chiefs you can get this one for relatively cheap. Anyone who wants a friend to play with can add me online, JenTheBrilliant, I'm always looking for someone new to play!

What can I say?
I'm a nerd for games like these. Real time strategy is my forte and this fulfills all my dreams... Minus one.Why must the age of empires series have campaigns that don't last that long? It is incredibly simple to create a little more content to make the game fantastic. Sometimes I believe they compromise storyline, and general campaign deliciousness for more RTS play. I feel like I'm just playing another skirmish when I believe my campaign should be about something you don't get in the base of the game! Games like Warcraft III does this well. They give the single player WOW aspect to the game without destroying the RTS feel.Age of Empires is by far my favorite RTS and probably my favorite game of all time. If they would just fix the campaigns it would never change

Love it, want more levels and stories
I grew up with Age of Empires and I really indulged a lot of my time into them especially the third one, Age of Empires 3. I really love the gameplay and the fun experiences and I so wish I could relive only one day of when I first got into it in the early 2000s.
