That is what I want!
The best shutter release for Nikon D850.

A little spendy for a straight forward remote
It acts just like an old school cable remote. Push the button and "click". There's also a lock for long exposure. Screwing it onto a D850 is a little fiddly, though. And for a simple remote it's pretty expensive. Paying for the Nikon name I guess.

Hope it last longer than the last version!
Well....I had the previous MC30 and the shielding jacket on the cable adjacent to the 9 pin connector cracked a number of years ago. This eventually led to the point where there must have been a short of some kind as the camera wouldn't work when I plugged it in (screens went blank). I've had the MC30 for maybe 8 years or so...but it's not like I used it every day. It was most irritating and given the relatively low usage and high cost, I would have thought it would have lasted a lot longer. Plus, as others noted, the knurled knob on the old version was total crap. Forget trying to screw it in with gloves on...you could just barely do it with no gloves on!I just got the new version MC-30A and have had several opportunities to use it. It works as advertised and the knob is MUCH better...but still, I have to say that connecting the darn thing is not my favorite thing to do....I wish Nikon would find another connector system.Anyway, I gave the new one 4 stars based on the fact that it works and the knob is certainly better. I am also speculating that this one won't fail like the last one did. The shielding is configured differently so I am hopeful.

Simple and Reliable
I use a cable release for most of my photography. This Nikon cable release is built to last. It's simple to operate and is reliable. I prefer this over the battery operated releases...one less thing to worry about. Attaches securely to my new Nikon Z9 mirrorless camera.

Just What I Needed
For the longest I thought the only way to shoot the Nikon D850 remotely was wirlessly. I kept digging and found out there is this remote cable. I love it. Just got it today. Works great.

A working trigger release, but at what price?
I use a remote trgger with a DSLR mounted on a tripod for HDR and long exposures. I was annoyed with Nikon when I acquired a D810 body to find that eight pin Nikon trigger that worked fine with preivous DSLRs would no longer work because the new camera uses a ten pin connector for its release.A local camera store suggested a ten pin trigger from Vello for under $10 as a substitute. Might not last as long as the Nikon they said but I could buy six of them for the cost of an MC-30A. The Vello even has a little snazzy splash of orange to relieve its black plastic facade. Only one problem; the one I acquired is incapable of tripping the shutter on my D810 and even looking snazzy does not make up for that shortcoming. So I acquired the MC-30A, which works perfectly but does not get more stars from me because I believe I've paid too much for a shutter tripper. For the functionality, the price seems too high and I still don't see why Nikon does not maintain more compatibility among accessories. So I bow to necessity and own the product but don't think it is a five star attraction. My other complaint about the MC-30A, but this was true of the Velo as well, is that it led to my first complaint with the D810. I like having the rubber gasket that Nikon provides to cover the connector for the trigger release on the front of the camera body but the connector is very close to the lens, the gasket does not move out of the way easily and attaching the trigger feels much more clumsy and time consuming than attaching the 8 pin Nikon trigger to a D600. This is not a flaw of the MC-30A, but not consistent with typical Nikon human factors either.

Works fine.
I’ve had trouble with other corded brand name remotes for my Nikon d810 camera and this one seems to be working fine!

Buen Material
El material oficial de nikon, ya lo tenia y ha sido una sustitución por desgaste, de esta forma estaba seguro que era una compra a tiro hecho.

Cheap Rubbish
£90 - really?? Feels like £5 worth. Chinese writing on the cable [?} Flimsy, and worst of all the “lock” button stays on by default each time you push it, which means if you are on continuous high, the shutter keeps firing until you unlock it. Piece of junk. I had one of these years ago and used it for a long time - it never felt as lightweight and plasticky as this. Absolutely DON’T waste your money. I have doubts whether this is geniune.
