very nice copy, fully detailed. watch out for the cheap imitations, the details are real bad. look for the chevrons on the sleeve for the authentic reproductions.

My fault really, as one of the reviews noted that the horse more resembled a mule....sadly it does. There is also less detail in general than is pictured in terms of musculature on the animal and the clothing and weapon on the rider. What's interesting is a bought another Remington (Bronc Buster) from the same vendor, and it is outstanding. I really don't blame the seller, this is common among Remington reproductions. Photos are used either of the original piece, or a more detailed repro, while the version sold is most likely from another vendor. I've sent statues back in the past for that very same reason. All I can say is be careful, ask if the photos used are of the actual item......

I purchased this piece along with "Buffalo Horse" (horribly emaciated buffalo, which I immediately returned and had to fuss to get my money back plus had to pay the postage for the return, $20.00)."The Trooper" is a close reproduction of Remington's work. The head of the horse looks more like a mule's head but that is OK with me as troopers did ride mules and they are one of my favorite animals. The other bone I'd have to pick with this is that the rifle depicted is a lever action and not a Springfield Single Shot. The Army never issued lever actions to soldiers.I'm a history nut and admit that for the price it is still "Old West" enough to have not sent back. So I've got a representation of Remington's work but don't plan on ordering any more bronzes unless I can see them first.
