A Good Biography on a great Bible teacher
I have been listening to John MacArthur teach the Bible for over 40 years. It is interesting to learn something about his background and family. Along with the late RC Sproul, I consider MacArthur the best Bible teacher I have ever heard. I listen to him frequently in my car while driving. This book gives insight into who Macarthur is and how he teaches and studies the Bible.

Wonderful Book, Awesome Teacher
I’ve been listening to John since the 70’s. He is the most accurate teacher I’ve ever come across.I’ve heard most of the subject matter in this book during his sermons. This book made me appreciate him even more.

Just Doing God's Will
This book is a nice bio, but more than that an inspiration for Christians to faithfully and consistently and in humility to do God's will. John MacArthur has come to be respected for his faithfulness; he has not demanded such respect. That's what makes him special...although he would be the last person to call himself special in that regard. Read this and be challenged and inspired to do what The Lord has called you to do. If and when we do that, we will be fulfilled and impactful and leave a lasting legacy.

Fine story of very fine preacher.
Anything written by Iain Murray...esp the biographies, are great...nobody does it better than he. So, when I saw another, I knew I had time that will not be wasted, besides I. Murray never wastes a word that I know of.John MacArthur is near my age, perhaps he has a few yr on me, but this book will make you feel very good if you are a believer...& know that we have had this man for so long doing what he does best...getting the bible he loves so much, and which is about the redeemer Jesus Christ whom he loves so much...getting that message out to all he can...and oh my, is he and his great staff in ministry doing it.Go now to gty.org and see (all free) 1,000's of his sermons and watch him at the church near L.A. or use audio. I prefer seeing him so I am not distracted by my lamp or a chair in my room, etc. All fine or great preachers are alike in ways, esp John Mac... when he takes the bible book he is in and vs by vs he goes through it, not sliding over the hard parts...He will glean out the meaning of what the text is saying and whom it is saying it to.Just go to Amazon or go to gty.org and order it but be ready for a fine read. Two things I love about this man & ministry is his humility, when you see all he is involved with, he tells you plainly it is God's work, he is a steward of what God gave him, etc. Another thing I do love so much is that he will (so clearly but firmly if need be) let it be known about the ones who deceive millions of Christians...He tells those interested in religious matters about the big name persons that bear title of "Christian" as belonging to them but some of us see the incredible denying of the God, the Savior of the bible...& John is the only well known preacher I have seen stand up and warn all of the false teachers, etc. that are out there...like the apostle Paul, if he has to he will warn and name if necessary. John is not afraid and does not seek popularity...he is concerned only that he lives best he is able to obey, glorify his God and Savior.I hear now that Rick Warren is America's pastor, it used to be Billy Graham...pardon me but I think John MacArthur will always preach the full gospel, tell the truth, there will be no shadowy things with John. as with some others...no resorting to entertainment and serious error in his preaching...God bless and use Pastor John MacArthur.......wally.

Valuable Biography
Whether MacArthur is someone you appreciate or not, this is an excellent, well written biography with great insight into his personal life, doctrinal position, and his geographical reach. The phenomenal growth of ministries such as Grace to You, the commencement and character of the Masters Seminary, the controversies in respect of the Gospel and Charismatic teaching all are recorded.Insight is given into MacArthur's Dispensational understanding of Scripture and while the author (Iain H Murray) is evidently sympathetic to MacArthur's Calvinism, he is not on board with his Dispensationalism. However, while this comes through at times, it does not mar what is an excellent biography, full of interest for any who have benefitted from his ministry. What shines as the consistent feature about MacArthur is his complete confidence in, and commitment to, the Word of God. He states "There's simply no substitute for Scripture. Nothing else is as steadfast as the Word of God. Church tradition changes over time. Authors and pastors make mistakes. Even your own conscience may be wrong. All believers must be like the Bereans". It is this that has fuelled his verse-by-verse exposition of the New Testament and it is this which marks him out as valuable to the Lord's people.
