The black finish was added to the spring plate by the manufacturer because it has an ingredient that makes it possible for the furniture manufacturers to powder coat the chair frames after they are assembled. The black finish will hold an electrostatic charge that attracts the powder. You can spray paint the plates with aerosol paint from a local paint or hardware store. You should be able to find an aerosol paint that will come close to matching the original considering most of the spring plate is not exposed. Fiberglass Rocker Springs do not have holes drilled. You will need to use the old spring plate as a template to measure and drill holes to fit your furniture. It is suggested that you use a drill press to make sure the holes are straight. Re-assemble the parts the same way that you took them apart. There should be a metal plate or washer between the bolt head and the spring plate.

Good product to restore your swivel rockers
They work well. Last about three or four years then need to be replaced, but we use our outdoor furniture a lot so that can be expected. Easy to drill though. Be sure to keep your old springs as a template to drill the holes in the new ones you purchased.

Perfect parts to repair my patio furniture
These were perfect for fixing my patio furniture. Saved me a couple thousand dollars not having to buy a new set. It would have been a shame since everything still looks pretty new and all I needed were these springs

worked great as replacements on my rocker patio chairs. they feel good as new now. I took off one of the old springs and used it as a template to drill new holes in these.
