can i use a momentary sw to activate the relay an it will stay in that position till I push the switch again then the relay will flip the other way

It sounds like you do not need this relay, but rather a maintained switch or a bistable relay.

A normally closed momentary switch is what you would need to cycle the power manually to say turn on the relay for a certain period of time OR turn the relay on after a certain period of time.   For example, if you want to turn on a light for a few minutes after pressing a button, this relay would be a good choice.  If you want to disconnect power from something after holding a NO momentary switch for a few seconds OR just pressing a NC momentary and waiting a few seconds, this relay can help with that.

I have already purchased this unit having understood I could use it as a delay off relay. Can someone explain how to configure/wire the unit for this?

The trigger voltage activates the relay, and the relay contacts can be connected in a normally open or normally closed configuration, depending on whether you need the output to complete your external path with power, or to keep the external path open during the delay cycle. It is ok if the trigger signal be left activated during and even after the delay completes its cycle, as the current that the time delay consumes, if the trigger remains activated, is negligible. A short interruption of the trigger signal will reset the timer for another delay cycle.

Will this work with a negative trigger to delay the output of a relay?

Hi there. The UCTRONICS Timer module does not have a separate trigger input. You configure it for either a delay on function or delay off function. The application of 12 Volts DC will start the timing process. You will have to modify the circuit around the existing relay and then use the relay on the Timer Module to perform the delay function.
