Getting to the point
This is a neat 2-piece, two-holed sharpener in a sturdy transparent plastic-type case, which often comes up as part of the 'Amazon Add-On Programme', offering even greater value for money.COLOUR : GREY with WHITE sharpener unit.RED & WHITE 'DERWENT' embossment on the front. It measures roughly 5 cm x 2.5 cm x 2.75 cm with nicely rounded corners. It has a flip-top lid with a finger notch, which opens to reveal the twin sharpener - two sizes for slim & larger pencils. The whole top comes off when it is time to empty and clips easily back into place.Because the top comes off it is easy also to free off a trapped, broken point if required. On the go, it is small enough to slip into a briefcase but not lose sight of it. On a desk, it is a nonchalant asset when my favourite pencil needs a decent point!I have been using mine on and off for over 6 months now and it is still going strong without any noticeable change in the blade efficiency. The shavings canister does fill up surprisingly quickly if a batch of pencils needs sharpening up but you can usually get just that little bit more in there when you have to!It comes simply packed in a little cellophane packet and in a strong cardboard outer for safe transit. The Derwent Manual Twin-Hole Sharpener also comes as part of a handy pack that sometimes pops up on the 'Amazon Add-On Programme' offering even greater value for money, especially if you need a SOFT ART eraser, too.[17 images attached] a batch of pencilsa handy pack

Blunt and useless...not the usual Derwent standard.
Purchased this to replace some really good Swordfish sharpeners that have gone missing. I chose this as I use Derwent pencils and liked the idea of having the shavings collected. However, it managed to repeatedly break three of my sketching pencils, I gave up in the end and tried my watercolour pencils...and now have a set of blunt pencils that are each a couple of inches shorter thanks to the constant breaking!I expected good things from Derwent, and am extremely unimpressed and very annoyed at breaking so many pencils. Will definitely go back to Swordfish sharpeners, which are fantastic.

To be Blunt...
....this is without doubt the best looking, most aesthetically pleasing, ergonomically shaped and completely useless pieces of equipment I have ever bought. Like me it is blunt and I have just ruined two good pencils finding out the hard way. Back to the scalpel.

Fantastic sharpener, of course catches all those shavings BUT
Fantastic sharpener, of course catches all those shavings BUT, if you have any dexterity problems small sharpers can be fiddly and painful to hold. This is beautiful and comfortable and not forgetting Sharp and smooth in its application, therefore not breaking leads and taking chunks out of the barrel of your pencil which causes weakness. Having 2 slots sizes for your pencils is wonderful. Its funny people may assume a sharpener is just a sharpener.. NO!They make a big impact if you get a low grade one and this is deff a Brilliant sharpener :-D

Not sure if poor pencils or poor sharpener?
4 stars as it sharpened two of my coloured pencils brilliantly. Many others it chewed them up. My coloured, graphite and pastel and charcoal and metallic pencils sharpen quite well. Not the arrow point I was seeking. All my pencils are not cheap but not the most expensive. Will persevere and will upgrade my pencils or seek an alternative product if necessary.
