With a few glitches that had to be worked out, I am happy with my purchase. I am sure I received a system that had been returned because the original admin password had been changed so I could not set it up using the normal setup. Also, there was the name of a user added to the user list. So I can't really say how easy it would be to set up since my cameras were no longer "matched" to the base and I had to do extra steps to get them recognized. No telling what other settings had been changed prior to the return. The setup interface is not real intuitive, so I had some confusion there (for instance, to get the email or app alerts, there are two different places you have set it - not sure why). Having said all that, the set up was still FAR easier than a previous camera I had from another company! These give you the ability to block out areas from motion detection (for instance trees where the limbs are blowing) and work well on the lowest sensitivity setting. I did have two cameras that I installed catty-corner from the corner of the house where the base station was, but were well within the advertised range and those two would not hold a signal. I was told it is based on how many walls are in between. So I had to purchase stronger antennas for those two cameras. They were not expensive, so I wish they would just put the stronger antenna on when manufactured. There is currently no phone support number so communication was via email. I will say that I did get quick responses to my emails and the person working with me was good. One thing I didn't know til the end of this process was that I could have asked for someone to call me, but in some ways I liked using email so that there wasn't a language barrier. I was worried because I had seen some reviews that said these were junk. I disagree - I think the cameras are very good quality and the video is extremely good, even at night. The company could improve their documentation and the interface (which is why I did not give 5 stars) but I do recommend these cameras and am happy with my purchase.

I purchased this system and wanted to get it operational quickly. I will give it four stars instead of five because in my opinion, and in my case, it was not "plug and play". It would have been "plug and play" if I had the luxury of having four power outlets luckily situated within less than ten feet of where I wanted to strategically set up the cameras. And who would? So we had to buy the appropriate power cords, and a power box and install all of that before we could get power to the cameras. I also only rate four stars, not five, because the directions provided are far far far too brief. I suppose if you are familiar with setting up camera systems and formatting drives - this is the system for you. The directions were not very clear about formatting the drive to provide playback capability. Without purchasing a drive, installing the drive, which was easy, and formatting the drive, which was easy, once we found the right procedure through system set up, you do not have playback capability. I rate four stars not five, because the description of the system provided through Amazon is not detailed enough. I had to post no fewer than ten questions in order to find out what kind of power cords I would need. You can't contact customer service by phone. That said - we were able to successfully install the system. The video quality is good. The night vision is good. The app for the phone gives you the ability to view your property from anywhere. But I have not yet figured out how to manage the playback correctly. No directions. This system is a good value I think. But if I had it to do over, I would probably buy a system with playback capability right out of the box. No installing drives and such. Overall, this is a great system especially for a tech savy person. It was a struggle for me.

Setup was a snap. I first laid out all the cameras in close proximity relative to the recorder in order to test picture quality and format the separately purchased 1TB hard drive. The recorder was then connected to the router with a network cable to test the remote viewing app.A knock on the phone app is that it DOES NOT support playback. The other features are great such as taking snapshots and recording live footage on your cell phone. Another plus (or negative) is you can simply add your newly installed camera system to the phone app using only the device ID shown on the screen (which you have to hook up separately). Those of you wishing to use your own cell phone app is out of luck because instructions do not provide any details in that regard.Also missing from the phone app is the auto alert on detected movement such as package delivery at the front door or suspicious movement at night in the front yard.For a 720P system, the picture quality is pretty nice. Not the heavily compressed pictures you usually see with other or older systems. However, the manufacturer claim of 200ft reception radius (with drywalls) is not that accurate as I put one in room about 50 feet away (3 rooms away), the signal strength went down to only about 30% and some lag became very obvious. As the DVR unit has a self contained wifi router, I'd imagine it's not very difficult to add a wifi signal extender to place the DVR unit central of all cameras, but at the same time the security of the DVR unit is slightly compromised as it gets harder to find a good spot to hide it.All in all, a good system at a very reasonable cost with minimal setup (of course some drilling is still required but at least you won't have to pull signal cables all across the house attic). Only time will tell it holds up.
