it stays reasonably secure when on the back of the pen and very secure when on the front of the pen.

Q: will this pen take a mont blanc rollerball refill.

Oh, rollberball? No, it's a Fountain pen...needs cartridges.

Q: which refills are needed for the 91217 GEL roller pen?

The Pilot G2 refills. The Metropolitan says it uses the fine point (0.7), but I prefer the bold (1.0), which works perfectly in the pen. I assume that all four sizes of the Pilot G2 refills would work equally well.
