Seemed good quality but very difficult to install
I bought these after a bit of research into various options. I wanted something sturdy enough to keep things from crashing down during a quake, but not so annoying that it was hard to open the cupboards day to day. These got great reviews and although very expensive seemed sturdy and the right choice so I went for it.My skill level is a hobby DIY. I have a drill and various common household tools which I use fairly frequently. I can't do anything super fancy, but I've done plenty of around the house fix-it projects where measuring and drilling were required. Not a pro but I know the difference in screwdrivers, types of screws, leveling, and other basics.I think these latches require a professional to install. Not even the building handy-man. My cabinet doors sit flush with the cabinet (no lip or gap). I followed the instructions to the letter. 1/2 inch away from corner and 1/8 inch in from the bottom shelf of the cabinet for the receptor. I put the adhesive on and closed the door to get the correct position of the male end piece. That's where things went nuts. Even if you measure carefully, pencil mark, pre-drill, and retest, no matter what you do the plastic male receptor shifts some as you are tightening. I figured out how to get around that and raised it slightly higher than it was with the adhesive and that seemed to help with a couple of them. But none of the latches would work if I set the receptor back at all. And the cabinet doors do shut flush (and the plastic base of the male end is not hitting the cabinet and preventing it from closing - I looked - it is going inside to meet the receptor as it should). If I set the receptor edge outside of the cabinet, then the latches would work some of the time. But the male receptor still warps some as you are installing it and you can't be off even the tiniest bit or the latch will not engage. I was able to install two of them, but after spending 3 hours on the third one, gave up. It shuts the way it should, looks correct, but just doesn't engage. Super super frustrating. They do seem nice quality, but I would not purchase them unless you are a professional or have a professional who can install them for you. Note: they also need to come with more self adhesive pads. There were only 4.

These are the bomb-diggity
Expensive but solid-feeling and worth it. Screws are kind of soft but pre-drilled pilot holes help. I used a hot-melt glue-gun to position them - a dab on the bottom to affix it inside the cabinet with the door-latch piece in place, then a dab on the end of that, close the cabinet door firmly on it, wait a few seconds, and then open to reveal the latch-piece now stuck exactly where it needs to be for alignment. Finalize with screws. Latching seems solid and appears like it will resist earthquakes. Only took a day or two to get used to opening the cabinets. My wife approves. It should be noted that the latches will leave a slight gap between the door and the cabinet (necessary since you have to push them in slightly to release them.) For us this was not really noticeable except for one cabinet that is edge-on to view, but it's something to keep in mind if you are obsessive about having the doors close flush. Personally, I'd rather have the security these latches provide and in most cases the slight gap is not noticeable.

These are great!
I have been using these for more than a year now. They function perfectly and since I am on the Left Coast in California, the earth is going to shake but these cabinets are not coming open.Very easy to install if you take the time and watch the YouTube videos on how to install them. You folks make a great product.

It fit real nicely into my cabinets
We had just had a 7.1 earthquake and many dish cabinets doors came open and let the dishes fall on the floor breaking them. This neet device will hold the doors closed and save the dishes.

Crazy Awesome Latches for Earthquake Safety.
These are great patches that stay closed until you push in on the door. It then releases. It is mechanical not magnet so it should hold up in an earthquake. They are a bit tough to install if you have cabinet doors with a lip on them, but well worth the effort!

peace of mind
Installation was easy after reading suggestions here of how to install from other reviewers. It has been a month and so far so good. I couldn't find any other device that I thought would be hassle-free enough to install untill this product. This device added about 3/16" more gap to cabinet doors when closed. It is visible to me but doesn't bother me. I finally, no longer worry, after 10+ years, about the contents of the cupboards spilling when the trembler hits. Even if this product fails a few years later, it seems easy enough to replace.

Package only contained 7 latches.
I purchased a package of 8 safety latches on January 18. When I finally got around to installing them on July 5, the package only contained 7 latches. Please send me one more latch. The product works fine, but I need one more latch.https://smile.amazon.com/gp/your-account/order-details?ie=UTF8&orderID=114-8689284-6657056&ref_=pe_2640190_232748420_TE_simp_od

Excellent solution for a serious hazard
Product performs as advertised. I was able to have a visiting son-in-law install them as I had just had back surgery so was not in a condition to climb, bend, and install them myself. This style is necessarily more expensive than the types you have to release with a finger, but so much more user friendly.
