Great for Dogs on Hypoallergenic Diets
I have been extremely satisfied with the Greenies Pill Pockets Roasted Duck and Pea Formula. To clarify, this is the same as "Allergy Formula" (it's written on front of the package), although on amazon it is listed as a separate product. My dog is on a novel protein source diet and cannot eat the beef or chicken Pill Pockets, although he must take daily medications. Getting him to take his daily medications was a huge hassle until I found out about these.I do agree with a previous reviewer about the smell and color of these duck/pea Pill Pockets. The smell is unfortunate, to say the least, and the color is interesting-looking. If my dog did not have allergic issues, I would definitely give him the regular beef or chicken flavor Pill Pockets instead. However, comparing the two products, I believe one reason the Allergy Formula Pill Pockets have a certain odd color is due to lack of added color. In other words, they have a more natural color. In the beef Pill Pockets, "caramel color" is one of the ingredients, but it is not in the Allergy Formula. In case, anyone is interested, these are the ingredients in the Roasted Duck and Pea Allergy Formula: duck, glycerin, dried peas, natural flavors, vegetable oil, water, salt, potassium sorbate (to preserve freshness), xanthan gum, citric acid, preserved with mixed tocopherals (a source of Vitamin E).My dog likes the Allergy Formula Pill Pockets just as well as the regular Pill Pockets, so the offensive smell does not seem to affect him at all. Finally, I saw in an earlier review where someone said these were smaller than the normal "capsule" size. I have NOT found this to be true. I have ordered several times and every time, the capsule size is the same as for the regular beef or chicken flavor Pill Pockets. This means that usually you can break one in two, so they go twice as far. The texture of these Pill Pockets is just as malleable as the normal ones and it's quite easy to hide a pill in them. All in all, I highly recommend if your dog has allergy issues and can't take the normal ones.

Hard to find something comparable!
I'm a vet tech and have used these for years to help pill patients and animals I petsit. I started using these myself this year after my own dog's health has declined and is now on a lot of medications. He has IBD and a lot of food sensitivities so I was happy to see they now have the Duck & Pea (it's not a commonly used protein so it's good for animals with food allergies). He tolerates them well, love them. I have never had a problem with him rejecting anything in a pill pocket. I get the capsule size. If I'm giving 3-4 pills, I usually split it and only use half of the pocket. Otherwise, I use the whole thing if I'm giving him everything at once (6-7 pills). Every flavor, except for the Peanut Butter, is pretty soft and very easy to smush which enable you to cover all of the pills. The one thing that people may not like; the Duck & Pea have a very heavy smell. It doesn't leak out when the bag is closed but when I opened the bag for the first time, it was a punch in the face. My dog was super excited though, so I guess that's the point. I have now gotten used to the smell but it's very strong. The amazon price is great, even cheaper now that I've set up a subscription.

Worked perfectly
I have great animals that are usually willing to do whatever I ask of them. Unfortunately my male dog gets anal gland infections once or twice a year. I have tried many ways of administering his antibiotics from coating with peanut butter/cream cheese or wrapping in slices of cheese. All of these methods work for the first few days but over time he decides the treat isn't worth while so I end up forcing the pill down his throat and giving a treat afterwards as a reward for being tolerant. Eventually he starts refusing his treat and looks at me like I'm abusing him, lol. So this time I decided to try Greenies pill pockets. I chose the capsule size since they are supposed to be larger and he needed to take three pills at a time. I also chose the duck and pea formula to provide a unique flavor. Each night he watched me place the antibiotics in the pocket and form a nice ball then eagerly took his treat. They apparently smell very appealing as my female dog also begged for them and we have to store them in a cabinet because the cat tried to help himself by chewing on the bag. By the end of the first week, all three animals would line up in the kitchen at the end of the night waiting for their treat! They did leave a strong smelling oily residue on my fingers but washed off quickly and easily with just a little water and friction. Purchased through Amazon with Prime shipping. Arrive quickly in perfect condition.

My dog loves them, but I just wish they had a little less crumble.
My dog loved the flavor and in fact could smell it from the upstairs while I was prepping his medication on our first floor....However, I gave them a 4 star and this is my reason why. There is nothing worse than trying to wrap up a pill in food, a treat or pill pockets bought specifically for just this reason that crumble apart. You really have to work with it much like playdoh to get the pill to stick and not fall apart within a dogs mouth. If you think you can just throw the pill in and pinch the top closed like I thought you could, then you are sadly mistaken. You'll have to mend it together a few times in your hand before you can toss as a treat. Then because they are so stinky but tasty for dogs, your hands just smell even after washing them. It's best to use dish soap to get the smell off the first time. They are great don't get me wrong, but just annoying that they aren't easier to prep with medication, but if you have a picky dog like mine then you deal with the added couple of seconds to form this pocket into a solid yet tight ball.I hope my review was helpful. Thank you for reading.

My dog ate them and liked them, but managed to spit out her pill anyways. Had to give her her pills by giving her one treat, one piece of pill by holding her head up so she doesn't spit it on the ground.

I love these, but I am in the UK and they take 2-3 weeks to deliver these from the US so if you need them quickly there isn't a hope. But, if you buy a bag just in case, and use them, they mould around the pill well forming a complete seal so the dog can't see or smell the pill. They smell hidious to human but that is part of the charm, the dogs love them, all meaty duck flavoured smell.
