Not perfect, but seems best option right now..
I have wider, flat feet, and it is hard to find tennis shoes that work for me. The only brand that seemed to work were Prince T22, but in exchange for durability, you get a heavier shoe which is quite bothersome at times. In addition, I believe Prince changed manufacturers, and the shoe is not built to be as comfortable anymore.I have been looking for a better option and as the New Balance 1006 got good reviews in Tennis Warehouse and came in wider options, I jumped on a sale that came up on Amazon.I can only give first impressions presently as I just got them. Hope to update later.I am men's size 10.5 and got the 2e width. It feels a tad tight for 2e..length and width wise. It also seems to have minimal arch support which is disappointing. I have superfeet orthotics, and may insert them. I disagree with another reviewer who suggested an orthotic inserted over the shoes insert would still allow a comfortable fit. From my perspective, the shoe's insert would need to be removed and the orthotic inserted for a comfortable fit.In spite of the shoe being a bit tight, I hope some time on the court will resolve that. I think if I went a size up or a width up, I would have a shoe that is too loose.Wonder if an orthotic in a 4E width shoe would work, but it might be a hassle to return this, get another and find out, that option doesn't work.On a positive note, the shoe is definitely lighter than Prince T22s so pleased with that. In addition, sole seems sturdy and durable. The shoe may not be a dream, but it may be my best option for now.As noted, hope to add more insights after have much more time with these shoes on the court.I would highly recommend anyone looking to buy these shoes to go to a store that carries the various widths and see what works best for you. The reviews seem to vary greatly as to whether they are 'true to size' and whether the width designations are accurate.

If MC1005 was a good fit, don't order these shoes.
I have used New Balance shoes for years, especially for tennis. This MC1006 replaced the MC1005 and prior versions, which all fit perfectly. New Balance uses "MC" to indicate a true "Tennis" shoe, and New Balance 9D shoes have always been the correct fit.In spite of the many reviews saying "too narrow" and "too small", I trusted New Balance would not have let me down, so I ordered them. Unfortunately New Balance let me down. They've invented a new 9D size that won't fit a 9D foot. After years of NB shoes I felt betrayed.Save yourself the heartache and disappointment. Do not order these shoes if the MC1005 was a good fit. I'm now looking for alternatives.

New Balance is changing wide fit of Sneakers over the years
I can't say how disappointed I am with the change in fit for this sneaker over the last 5-7 years. Yes, they are updating the model number but they don't fit as comfortably as the 1002, which was better than the 1004, which was tremendously better than this 1006. I had always bought 8.5 EE and these actually HURT my toe and side of my foot. It is obvious that the profile towards the small toe is lower and frankly, the now more pointy look of the front is ugly! These aren't ladies high heals. Making the front of the sneaker more pointy is just more sneaker to trip over when playing tennis or pickleball, in addition to looking ridiculous. There aren't a lot of choices for men with wide feet but New Balance better wise up and stop screwing around with the fit and look of their sneaker. I moved to the 8.5 EEEE and they fitter better but I still hate the more pointy front of the sneaker.

Be careful here!
I am sending this model back for an exchange. We thought that this new "MC1006V1" (and we really don't know what "V1" stands for") would be an advanced/improved version of the more traditional Model (and when released, highly touted) MC1005 Tennis Shoe that we have been using. Au contraire, we found the MC1006 to be more like a basketball shoe: taller, very sturdy, heavy, and overly solid in the base without any of the flexibility we need and are more accustomed to (or at least prefer) for tennis. You cannot shuffle your feet, bend nor flex these if you are an agile player!Suggestion - it would be both nice and "smart" if our good friends at Amazon work with their suppliers to include descriptive material that identifies WHAT has been changed or "improved" between 'evolving' product models, so as to educate, rather than to "snare" us!

Great shoe for pickleball, but the sole just doesn't last for the everyday player.
I've looked everywhere to find a better pickleball shoe, but haven't been able to find something that will work better for me (Mens - size 10) than the NB 1006. I'm on my 7th pair during a three-year-plus period. That's good because I'm satisfied that the shoes work well for pickleball, but bad because, like clockwork, the soles wear out and the cushioning on the sole deteriorates forcing me to buy new sneaks every five months. I've pushed the purchasing window at times by applying 'Shoe Goop' to the soles, but this is a very temporary fix and does not replace the actual tread design on the bottom of the shoe. I also add sole inserts once the original cushioning breaks down.Competitive pickleball, particularly when played on outdoor courts, demands a lot of side to side (and sliding) motion, quick starts, and sudden stops. I'm 65, and play pball at least 4x every week. Each time, I play for a little over an hour, and many times for two hours or more. It works out to 6 to 7+ hours a week that I'm playing in these NB shoes. My feet are a bit wide and my ankles are not the strongest. I have a pronation that also affects my ankles. NB 1006 gives me the width, the toe box room and the ankle support I need to play with the confidence that my shoes are not going to contribute to injury. Don't get me wrong, I've turned my ankle in these sneaks, but that generally happens after the shoes have been played in for five months. Seriously, this is a very good court shoe. I can handle slipping in some inserts, but the tread life on these shoes just doesn't hold up to everyday play outside for more than five months. They fix that issue and this would be a very good court shoe.
