My daughter loves the retelling of theses stories of dark goddesses. Another lovely addition to the Girl God publications for children.

Some poignant lines and some beautiful art
I'm in the midst of a research haze about Medusa and interpretations of her myth. This is a beautiful, very short book with a lovely message about looking at things from a different perspective. It's not exactly profound but it is touching in a simple, sweet way--and I love the accompanying artwork. I wish the format was different to what it is, I feel more could have been made of the colours and text... Although perhaps that's the downside of the ebook. Worth a read but best suited to children.

I truly loved this little book
My Name is Medusa by Glenys Livingston presents the Greek goddess with snake hair who lives in the dark in a totally new way that respects powerful women, snakes, and dark mysteries of nature. She shows how we, too, shed our skin, just gradually rather than all at once. Presenting how seeds are nurtured while buried in the dark earth, she tells the reader, “You grow a lot in the dark too—at night, in your sleep—like a seed that’s been planted.”The book is written for children, but as an adult male, I truly loved this little book. After all, I do have two daughters and two granddaughters. I wish them to be empowered, not disempowered or demonized for their strength.Such is the mission of My Name is Medusa. Glenys Livingston beautifully empowers girls. The richly colored, complex, and beautiful illustrations by Ama Baartz draw the reader into the feminine mysteries of life on Mother Earth. The hidden beauty of the powerful Medusa within girls and women is sumptuously explored.

Captivating and imaginative
This wonderful book gives parents and children a moment to reflect on the wonders of the natural world and to question the narratives we've been taught about Medusa. It provides a fantastic opening to conversations about everything from stars and snakes to human growth, both physical and spiritual/emotional, as well as to thinking critically about cultural images and norms that vilify female figures instead of celebrating female power. The illustrations are lovely and spark many interesting conversations on their own. Highly recommended for all parents and children!

Mom and child ultimately did enjoy the words as well as the illustrations
A little misleading - bought it for my eager reader who loves Medusa. It was written in a very different perspective than I expected. Mom and child ultimately did enjoy the words as well as the illustrations.
