3 year old grandson loves it. He has broken several plastic guns, so we have cautioned him to be careful with this toy. He is as careful as he can be, but he is a 3 year old so he still drops it and bangs it on things around the house. I rated it 4/5 for thickness and durability because it is plastic and fits together at the hilt via a small connection. It has held up so far and he loves it!
