Heavy Duty 16” tong made in India. It doesn’t have the match to keep it closed but I don’t mind since this is a heavy duty set of old school tongs and that is what I was looking for.

So I’ve been interested in trying Vollrath products for awhile. This is my first purchase.First impression: it’s heavy duty.Second impression: “Wow! It really doesn’t have a locking mechanism.”It’s open about 6” at its widest and 16” long.Not sure how I’m going to like it as I use them, but I think 6” should be enough to pick most things up. But without ever using them, I know I already hate that I cannot lock them - unless, of course, I use rubber bands.

just like restaurants I worked in. Great quality that will last for a long time unlike cheap Chinese versions that the stamped metal will cut you.

I bought two of these for use for a large picnic-type event in May. My grandson and I are responsible for grilling HUNDREDS of hot dogs. It's a mass-production process, with a dozen or more hot dogs being turned and moved at the same time. These were advertised as being 'Heavy Duty', and indeed they are. They have a nice, solid feel.It'd be better if they had a mechanism to keep them closed when not in use, but that's too much to expect at this price. Rubber bands solve that. If I were going to use tham on an everyday basis and store them in a kitchen drawer, I'd ones that closed and locked shut.I haven't used them yet, and won't until the end of May, but they seem to perfect for the job. Should there be a problem with them -- which I simply don't expect -- I'll update this review appropriately.
