Beware
Purchased this item to use with my Laguna Revo 18/36 lathe. I needed additional tool rests, and the flexibility of this system was desirable. However it did not fit into the bore of the lathe banjo. The diameter was just a slight bit too large. The tool rest that came with the machine has a post that measures 0.999 in diameter using a digital caliper. The NOVA tool rest post measured 1.005 in. I contacted NOVA customer service and they seemed to be understanding. They said that they will generate a return directly to them so they can evaluate the post and send me a replacement that will fit. One week later, I hadn't received any return documentation. I spoke to the same rep who acknowledged that they are aware of a problem. He said he will send me a new post and I can then return the old one in that same package. He said he would provide tracking information. After another week passed, with no contact, I called and spoke to a different rep, who said that they were making other changes to the design of the post and it would take a few weeks to get a replacement out (they are manufactured in China). I told him to forget about it as I would return the entire purchase to Amazon, which happened today.I give two stars because the concept is good and the items looked like they were of quality, except the post just didn't fit. Buyer beware.Note: I purchased Robust tool rests today. The first one came this evening with one-day shipping. Fits perfectly. Costs a whole lot more, but I don't have to deal with nonsense.

1" bar fits perfectly on my ancient Walker-Turner Lathe, Unlike Nagu brand bars, cheaper Nagu tool rests fit perfectly on this bar.

Good tool rest for 16 inch lathes, can't beat price and optionality
This is a good product, very simple and solid. I am using it on a Shop Fox 1758 lathe. Even though the Shop Fox ads say it has 1 inch tool rest posts, it doesn't and the holes are actually closer to 0.985 inch, so you'll have to chuck these and spin away a bit of steel with a sharp file. Then it's good to go. The height is good with the Nova 9027 6 inch long tool rest. Would be perfect if about 3/8 inch shorter. Post is 5 inches of straight steel stock, plus 1/2 of threads for tool rest bar. With the NOVA 9027 rest screwed on the total height is 7 inches.

I like the whole system for several reasons
I like the whole system for several reasons. One, it is much more affordable than competitors, two, it is easy to use. I will caution you though, I have a 16" Jet lathe and the 5" post is too long for this lather when the tool rest bar is added. The minimum height was higher than center. I happen to have a band saw for cutting metal, so it was no big deal to shorten, but just be aware of this.

Had to cut off ~ 1" for Laguna Revo 12/16 w/EWT carbide tools
The Nova modular system is very nice but the standard post (5") is too long for the Revo 12/16 when using EWT carbide tools. It was easy to cut off about 1" with a horizontal bandsaw then grind the edges - works perfectly now.If you have a different lathe and/or use different tools then the length may be just right.

Great tool post

Poor workmanship/design
The threaded part does not allow for it to be screwed all the way in the mating part, the threads need to go all the way to the flat or the mating part needs to have a recess so it allows both to be screwed all the way in as the instructions call for. I forced it in but it damaged the threads, I drilled a recess in the tool rest and used a tap to redress the threads.
